Bio:
Rhys Andrews –
BA in Music production and creative recording Two years experience as producer Phill Browns tape-op Specialist in organic analogue recordings and production.
‘Outside The Box’ was set up by myself (Rhys Andrews) and Juan Serra, because we wanted to offer the bands of Brighton an alternative to the 'Pop' sound of most modern productions. We want to bring back the golden age of recording, when music and bands sounded real and gutsy and were recorded live playing together in a room. I had always had a keen interest in the analogue 'Outside of the box' approach, but was truly set on the path when working with legendary producer Phill Brown,(phillbrown.net) who is a master of live organic recordings and all things analogue. During the few years under his wing, I teamed up with my good friend (and fine engineer) Juan Serra to practice and refine the techniques I was learning from Phill, working with a variety of talented artists from Brighton, we recorded several bands to tape, using classic mic's and techniques and mixing threw analogue mixing consoles using outboard processors.
