The Celebrating Forces Families Awards, held on the 26th April, in London, recognised the incredible strength, dedication, and achievements of the UKโs Armed Forces families.
Emma Passant was awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award: Supporting the Armed Forces Community. Emma is a spouse, who volunteers for a wide range of Station activities, including single-handedly arranging a Coronation event for Aldergrove Station. She also set up a charitable response to help a family following a devastating house fire, as well as volunteering for the Youth Clubs, Station coffee mornings and BFBS cinema, and even helped set up and run the community bar. Emma gives so much of her time to help the whole community.
On winning the Award, Emma said: โI am in shock, I did not think for one minute I would win. This is a huge surprise and one that I am truly proud of. Being a forces spouse can have its ups and downs and one thing I have learnt over the years is that the community is the heart and without a community it can be a really difficult experience being a spouse, especially if the service person is away. Even if itโs just popping the kettle on to offer someone a brew it can mean so much in a time of need and can really make someoneโs dayโ.
