We are delighted to be bringing the BFI Film Academy to 16 - 19 year olds to Argyll and the Highlands and Islands!
During this professional online course they will work together to watch, experiment, create and learn more about animation and film in a variety of forms.
This intensive online course includes:
• Hands-on filmmaking workshops
• An opportunity to work with professional animators and film makers (including Jim Parkyn from Aardman Animation)
• Skills covered include script writing / model making / animation / video editing / lighting / sound design
• Create your own animations and present these at an online screening event
• Industry sessions with animators, producers and festival directors
• An online pass to Manchester Animation Festival
• Support to build a digital portfolio and gain an Arts Award qualification

Join us for fun and amazing animation in and around our space at Hynish Old Steadings.
Jim Parkyn and Alasdair Satchel will be here to run sessions for everyone which explore our tidal coastline.
Saturday
Beach art animation workshop with Jim Parkyn and Jack Lockhart using stop motion and other animation techniques. Animate your beach face!
We will explore the beaches close to Hynish to make and collect and animate then come back to the project space to watch short animations and make some more!
Suitable for ages P4 - S2. 11AM - 12.30 (continues Sun 1-3)
Jim Parkyn brings his Amazing Scene Machine Workshop to Tiree for the first time!
Use Plasticine to make a tidal rock pool creature and help build an amazing scene!
Drop in activity All ages 1.30-4
Join Alasdair Satchel (from What We Do In The Winter Podcast) as he takes us on a guided beach walk Explore the coastline and explore a Gaelic glossary of words for places and things we find by our tidal coastlines.
This event will involve a coastal walk so be prepared to walk a couple of miles or so and explore with your feet, eyes and ears! Alasdair will use microphones to focus on the sounds of the seashore as he creates a new podcast for The Between The Tides project.
