Nottingham Forest trace their roots back to the Forest Recreation Ground, in the north of the city. They even played a FA Cup tie here in 1878. The site is still in use today. Read about this remarkable sporting venue in issue 116 of Groundtastic.

In 1980, with similarities to the plot of the gangster film, The Long Good Friday, the government considered building an Olympic Stadium on the Isle of Dogs. The 120,000-seat arena would also have become the national stadium. Read more in GT116.
