🪄 Kia has her very own Fairy Godmother 🪄

You may remember our post last week regarding saving up to buy Kia her very own Equilibrium Products massage pad.

Long term friend and one of the first supporters of our team, Linda Eckels, waved her magic wand and surprised us by transferring the money to buy Kia her massage pad.

We are blown away by her generosity and so very grateful to her 🤗 there were tears 😭

Kia's pad was delivered today and she enjoyed a half hour session after this evening's hack. 🖤🤍🖤🤍🩵💜

Thank you so much Linda, we just can't say thank you enough ❤️

Advanced team Knightmares announce the retirement of horse tinks.

She has been a pleasure to watch taking to it like a pro and being consistent in her performance.

I am sure it will not be the last we will see of her as owner Sarah is sure to make videos about her next career in liberty.

As we near the start of the 2024 Horseboarding season, sadly I have to confirm that the Knightmares will not be returning in our current form due to the unexpected retirement of team horse Tinks.

While we work on finding a new horse to take over from our team superstar, I'll be cheering on boarder James who is riding for a new team at a few events this year.

I'd like to take a moment of gratitude to Tinks for absolutely smashing her (sadly brief) competitive career, taking everything in her stride and battling it out with the best of them. She's taken the team from Novice beginners all the way to our first Elite event, brought home plenty of wins and gamely threw her enthusiasm into Horseboarding when I first went to have a go 6 years ago!

She's enjoying a happy retirement as a liberty horse, part-time professional model and very pampered pet!

ELITE CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS 2023
The 2023 season saw 6 teams compete throughout the 7 shows and the bonus 1 day event at Alresford which was a double point event. It also featured 2 advanced teams that stepped up in the one-day show.
The elite class is the top class for the teams with the most experience and speed. It consists of the most intense and high-speed racing, with speeds of up to 33mph (recorded) so far!

7th place- The Nightmares earning 20 points this season from competing at the one-day, double point scoring show, Alresford. This Southwest based team is made up of James Cain who was on the board and Sarah Bunny on the horse tinks, who has two previous careers in racing and polo.
7th place- Just Drag earning 20 points also from competing at the one day, double point show, at Alresford. This team made up of Emily Grey on the horse, Sean Mason on the board and new horse to the sport Rolo, were the advanced winners of 2023.
6th place- Spare parts earning 85 points, attending 4 of the competitions this season. This team made up of Luke De-chasterlain on the board, his fiance Amy Fordham on the horse and horse Archie.
These guys also proved what they had by being one of the four teams chosen to go international at the Prague play offs! We hope to see more of them next season.
5th place- Dead pigeon earning 103 points. Consisting of Charlie Buss on the horse, Aiden Beamish on the board and Moretti and orangyboom sharing the horse duties. Moretti is still young and is new to the sport, but she has definitley proved herself to be a speedy little horse who learns quickly under the rein of Charlie. Orangyboom new to the sport has also proved herself this season.
4th place- Just wing it earning 236 points. This team is made up of Annette Rush on the horse, Sandy (Alex) Oakman on the board and new horse on the block Harry, who stepped up when Tarra went lame after Burghley and had to retire from her horseboarding career. Harry who is built like a barn with a big chest and a leg in all four corners has proved himself to be one of the best horses this season. The team had to put in a bit of work when bringing Harry in as he was completely new to the sport but they put themselves in the mix at the top, with Harry learning quickly and proving he has what it takes. We really look forward to seeing how far this team can go next season.
3rd place- Top 'N' Tails earning 258 points. Consisting of Amy richards on the horse, Caveman Ryan Roberts on the board and little horse Indy. Indy as always showing that although she is small compared to the rest of the elite horses can still put up a fight and show them what she is made of. Little ex-showing pony Indy showing her true horseboarding eliteness by getting the team through Amy loosing both her stirrups on the weave.
2nd place- Blues 'N' Twos earning 286 points. Consisting of Amy Richards on the horse, Caveman Ryan Roberts on the board and super horse Sally, this team were right in the mix for 1st place this season but didn’t quite make it. Sally has only been horseboarding for a few years but has proven that she is a force to be reckoned with. All through the season it was a close fight with Chill Winston who ultimately tipped them to the win. Ryan winning the boarder championship and Amy winning the rider championship this season show they are both pros in the competition. This team winning 6 out of 32 bonus points is a good achievement, showing they have the speed. This season saw this team set new course records, matching the speed record and winning the Prague play offs!
1st place and ELITE CHAMPIONSHIP WINNERS FOR THE 2023 SEASON- Chill Winston
Earning 299 points this season, the team was made up of Charlie Buss on the horse, world record holder Aiden Beamish on the board and Winston the horse (With two stand-in horses Orangyboom and Hope Kia). Aiden was a new boarder for the team this season whilst regular boarder Ross Towner mixed things up in the commentary box with Daniel Fowler-Prime. Hope Kia is actually All the gears horse but the team helped to save the last competition at Sandringham by allowing them to race Kia when Winston unfortunately went lame. A massive, big up for the sportsmanship shown by this team! Orangyboom helped keep the team in the lead by standing in when Winston was lame. A strong start to the season showed these guys winning the first competition at Thame, winning every single heat, then the second at East Anglia and taking home the cup. Winning 17 out of 32 heats this season and gaining 5 bonus points ensured their ultimate win of the season.
Finishing the year at the Prague play offs in November was the second time this team had been international. Fighting tooth and nail with Blues 'N' Twos this season it was very close but these guys proved they still have what it takes to win.

Behind the scenes this year has been incredibly busy for the committee/refs/groundcrew, doing regular interviews, podcasts, media and getting ready for the Prague play offs in November. It has been one of the best years for Horseboarding so a massive shout out to everyone who has made this year so epic! Here’s to the 2024 season!

Trailblazers within the sport become the fourth team ever to win the Horseboarding UK championship.

Limited Edition enter the winner’s enclosure to join such greats as ihorse, Dead Pigeon and Chill Winston who have been leading the charge in horseboarding since the first season in 2009.
However, Limited Edition are not like the other three teams who all raced in the 2011 season and became Elite teams based on grandfather rights.
Limited Edition is the first team ever to enter the sport at the novice level and eventuality win the Elite championship.
The team was originally formed by Nicki Wagland and Lloyd Crabb after Lloyds first team "L A Banditos" failed to bring home the results that were expected and had seen Lloyd graduate from his first year at the school of hard knox after some pretty bad falls.
The surprise however, was with this new team Lloyd registered as the board rider. This was the dawn of the more intense and brutal second year at the school of hard knox seeing Lloyd learning how many different ways you can actually fall off a board.

Undeterred, when Nicki Left the sport Lloyd wanted to carry on the team but rules around registration ment ownership of the name had to be passed from Nicki to Lloyd. This was the first time this had ever happened.
The team then formed with Lloyd Crabb, Katie Edds plus ex race horse and former L A Baditos power house Berkeley.
However, the team failed to reach its desired successes. So, in 2017 the team was reformed with Sarah Ebbs of Pocket Rocket fame now in saddle and another ex-racehorse Anglo-paddy. Paddy soon distinguishing herself as "one of the fastest horses on the circuit".
As the years ticked by Along the way substitutions were made to keep the team moving forward. Emma Grainger put in a sterling performance in 2019.
Amy Fordham then rode an unforgettable performance from the team with the international squad in Denmark 2020. Where Anlgo-Paddy also proved she was a top-level horse.
For most of the team’s history though it has been the combination of Sarah and Lloyd which has kept this team fighting at the top.
Then in 2021 disaster struck as the team fought for the top spot at East Anglia. A crash coming out it the weave caused Lloyd's shoulder to be badly broken and his season was over.
With one competition still to go Tom Kilroy stepped out of the commentary box to race as the substitute boarder for the team. He dusted off his 2013 boarder championship winning board with skate trucks and it broke, almost instantly. He was now forced to ride Lloyds Trampa board which was not a happy partnership and resulted in Tom taking some pretty good falls. But with Sarah in the saddle looking after Tom they were able to put in a reasonable performance.
Over the winter speculations of who would race for the team in 2022 were flying around but nobody predicted what would actually happen.
The announcement that Sarah Crabb, who was the consistent pilot of the team, would not be riding and Lloyd would in the saddle gave us all flash backs to Lloyds first year at the school of hard Knox, ambulances’ and all.

The 2022 season started at Thame and Limited Edition came in a respectable 3rd behind the current National Champions Chill Winston in 1st and Top N Tails in 2nd. It was clear from the performance that Board Rider Tom Kilroy was still getting to grips with the board loaned from Lloyd, but the promise of future excellence could be seen.
The next round of competition was the prestigious East Anglia cup. The fight for first breaking out between Chill Winston and Top N Tails. Day 1 falling to Chill Winston with an almost perfect score of 21 against Top N Tails 18. On Day two Top N Tails fought back 11 points in heat one to Chill Winston 8 points bringing both teams into the final heat on equal points the battle for the cup could come down to the final race.
As the ground broke up to sand it became more and more perilous. Early on Ross Towner from Chill Winston took a fall and dislocated his knee. He did manage to get a time but it was well off the pace. So, that was that the East Anglia cup would go to Top N Tails.
The arena by this point was so broken up teams were throwing them selves against it like Greeks at the walls of Troy. If the arena could talk it would have sounded like Gandolph from Lord of the Rings “YOU SHELL NOT PASS!!”. And then Limited edition stepped into the ring, and everybody knew something was going to happen. An air of anticipated excitement fell across the audience.
As the team set off faster than any team had set off that afternoon the audience whipped up into a frenzy because surely, turn one which had taken out so many of the previous teams would not fail to see this team come to a sudden stop in a cloud of dust. But it did. The audience could not believe it and their support grew and Limited edition mastered each corner better than anyone else, going on to set the fastest time of the heat.
As a commentator this was the first time I can really remember where is felt like we had lost control of the audience, during that race we were no longer leading them, we were chasing them. For the 60+ seconds of the race they went wild, horseboarding UK stole the show and a new day had dawned for Limited Edition whose future seems anything but limited.

The News that Chill Winston would not race at the 60 point three day event at Burghley house was a shocker but it left the door wide open for Limited and Top N Tails to fight it out for top spot. However Limited had found their stride and despite a few decisions against other teams not going their way, they had a nine-heat winning streak. Giving them a commanding lead over the rest of the table.
Towards the end of the season the tide started shifting again, this time in the direction of Blues N twos who just seemed faster at points. The introduction of Aiden Beamish put Chill Winston back in the game. But it was all too little too late. The damage had been done and Limited Edition were already working out what they needed to do to win the championship and seemed more than happy to let the odd heat go.

Due to unforeseen circumstances the 2022 season ended two events early and Limited Edition finished with a 24-point lead. On one has ever lost the championship after having such a commanding lead but it would have been exciting to watch them defend it against the rising powers of Blues N Twos and Chill Winston.

Overall Limited Edition’s approached this season with a higher level of professionalism than any other team in the history of sport. The fitness of Rider and Boarder were above and beyond the levels reached by any other team. The invitation of adding team manager rather than just a groom, who could scrutinise how the team is running, how the other teams are running and formulate tactics that have never been seen before may have changed the sport for the better for ever.

Limited Edition didn’t just win the championship, they may have changed the game.

With recent weather warnings in place and the welfare of our noble steed being paramount we have made the difficult decision not to attend this weekends Horseboarding event at the Wiltshire game and country fair.

We are seriously gutted to be missing the event and wish all our fellow competitors luck and safe racing.

Our next event will be at the Cheshire Game and Country fair at the end of this month.

Horseboarding Hollands team, fearless is making a statement of intent for the 2022 season.
Looking at this video they seem confident in the arena, even though they are the only Horseboarding team in the world to race with out a bridle.

This does raise the question. When will the next international competition be run?

There are no plans at the moment for any international competitions. Both Horseboarding Holland and Horseboarding UK are still recovering from the pandemic. It may seem as though it's all back to normal or will be soon. But the truth is some events have not run since 2019 and this has coursed a back log in main arena acts in some areas.
Regardless of which side of the fence you land on, brexit has not helped our chances to take horses in and out of Europe. Extra paperwork, extra vettings, extra coast.
We refer to this time as "the covid hangover" , however we hope that, with no more interruptions, we should be back to normal in the UK by June 22. With all shows having run at least once in the last two years.
With travel restrictions being lifted we hope Horseboarding International can then return to the level it was in March 2020 at one of the biggest equestrian shows in northern Europe.
