I was encouraged to retrieve Much With Body by Polly Atkin from the shelf for re-reading following hearing her read in First Thursday poetry and essay event a couple of evenings ago. Lived within a landscape, whatever the difficulty, sometimes with humour, these poems are wonderful to read.

Great to see Maureen Jivani featured on The Friday Poem!

Three poems by Maureen Jivani We chose Maureen Jivani to be our featured poet for October 2023. When we read her poems we were struck by their energy, their imaginative power, and their style. In the first poem, Jivani’s Mother Goose – traditionally the teller of stories for children – is bat...

Watch out for news from Mulfran Press itself this year. It has been a strange and difficult couple of years, hasn't it, though?!?

I find the new facebook format for pages that the page owners see deeply unhelpful. The one that everybody else sees? Just fairly unhelpful.

In 'Let Me Tell You What I Saw', we see Adnan Al-Sayegh and Jenny Lewis read from their ground-breaking dual-language Arabic/English version of part of Al-Sayegh’s astonishing anti-war epic poem 'Uruk’s Anthem'. which gives voice to the profound despair of the Iraqi experience of recent wars. Delighted to announce that TRACK RECORD, our Severn Beach Line collaboration with poetry collective The Spoke, won a Community Rail Award last night (the snappily titled 'Community Arts Schemes: Renewable & Smaller'). Many thanks to Community Rail Network, to our partners Severnside Community Rail Partnership & 'A Forgotten Landscape', and to all of you who took the ride with us last year. You can still download the soundtrack for free (https://www.trackrecordarts.com/soundtrack) or, better still, get yourself a copy of the lovely booklet/CD published by Mulfran Press, now back in stock (just send us a message).

And here's a reminder of one of the tracks, pun intended:

Look out for news of a new Mulfran Press publication in the autumn.

15/04/2019

About now ten years ago Leona Esther Medlin was setting up Mulfran Press. Duncan McGibbon's THE CONSOLATIONS would be the first Mulfran book, so editing work with him had already begun. And she was talking to people here in Wales about poets they knew who might be ready for a first collection or pamphlet.

07/02/2019

Leona is looking forward to introducing Lesley Saunders and Philip Gross and their collaboration A PART OF THE MAIN at First Thursday Poetry & Prose tonight at Chapter Arts, Cardiff. And to showing off their beautiful Mulfran book designed by artist-letterer Valerie Coffin Price.
