Paul Ainsworth says people have often asked him why he hasn’t done a cookbook in the past. The Padstow-based chef and restaurateur has long been an established media figure with regular appearances on the likes of Saturday Kitchen and Great British Menu, but writing a book was something he only wanted to do when it felt right. Well, that time has now come with the release of Ainsworth’s first cookbook, called For the Love of Food. In the chef’s own words, the book is reflective of his story of moving to Cornwall nearly two decades ago, and features recipes from across his career. In our interview, Ainsworth chats about the process of writing his first cookbook, tells us why he won’t be opening a place in London any time soon, and ruminates on his Michelin ambitions.
