For health reasons I haven't been pursuing programming for this Worldcon, but nothing is going to prevent me hosting the traditional NewCon Press book launch, especially with fabulaous new titles by Ken MacLeod, Chris Baker (both Guests of Honour), Ian Watson, Cherith Baldry, and G.W. Dexter to unveil... All are welcome, for Wine, Watson. and Song (dependent on how much wine Wee Ian has drunk). Books, too, by the way.

It can be found here:

One of the great joys of running NewCon Press is that I get to work with some ridiculously talented people; none more so than artist Chris Baker (GoH at Glasgow Worldcon who has worked with the likes of Steven Spielberg, Tim Burton, and Stanley Kubrick). Here is a new piece that Chris has produced for the cover of the imminent ParSec #11...

Gary (G.W.) Dexter is an established author whose 3 mainstream novels have been acclaimed by The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, the Sunday Telegraph and elsewhere. We are delighted to be publishing his debut genre novel, "Birdwatching at the End of the World". Think Lord of the Flies for the modern age, but with girls... Available to pre-order now. Lovely to see Cécile Cristofari's wonderful debut collection pick up reviews in both Locus and Aurealis magazines. From the latter: “A delight of speculative fiction, embracing notions of climate change and probing possible futures. Ranging from the almost ethereal to the downright horrific, Cristofari’s stories are entirely captivating.”

Life can be vicious at times, but today I've been reminded that it can also be uplifting. I've received a fanzine, focusing on two of my books: The Smallest of Things (novella) and Growing Pains (collection), both from PS Publishing. That someone has taken the care and time to produce this has completely blown me away. Thank you, Pete Young.

Very excited to announce that one of the titles we're launching this summer is the first collection in 18 years from Ken MacLeod, one of my favourite authors. How could you make a book crammed with Ken's best short fiction even better? Well, how about cover art and internal illustrations by Chris Baker? Oh, and to put the cherry on the top, why not produce a very special deluxe including a limited edition print signed by Chris as well...? The book is available to pre-order now.

Delighted to see Fred Gambino's debut novel, 'Dark Shepherd', get such a great review in the Financial Times, closing with: “With this novel – a fine piece of fast-paced slam-bang space opera – he shows himself to be as adept with words as he is with images.”

25% DISCOUNT! Hi everyone. Tamsin here!

Okay, so I’ve tried to put together something a little bit different here. A blog tour of ParSec.

Just to refresh everyone, ParSec is our digital magazine featuring the latest fiction from established writers alongside the best new stories from emerging talents and debut authors. It includes on-point articles and regular columns, exploring genre fiction in all its forms. Interviews with leading authors and artists. Plus, insightful and informative book reviews on current titles and imminent releases from publishers big and small. Now, this magazine sports a lot of heft, considering its 3 short years of existence.

Honestly, the stories are champion, and they deserve to be loved! Let’s not forget, Neil Williamson's "A Moment of Zugzwang" from issue #4 was shortlisted for both the BSFA Award and the British Fantasy Award for best short fiction. Anyway, I reached out to a couple of reviewers hoping to promote the magazine and the calibre of content on offer within each issue, and with the help of Matt Cavanagh at Runalong The Shelves here we have it. A blog tour of ParSec.

If you start with this link, you'll follow the tour below: https://www.fantasybooknerd.com/2024/04/sf-magazine-review-parsec-1-ps.html

Each review includes a discount code for 25% off ParSec issues #1 - #9. Just copy and paste the discount code at the checkout and download for £4.49 each. Compatible with all e-readers.

A massive thanks to those that helped me out with this. Now, buckle up and begin!

I'm very proud of the Polestars series -- single author collections by outstanding writers, such as Aliya Whiteley, whose "Drive or Be Driven" received one of the best reviews I can recall seeing, from Publishers Weekly, no less: "...readers will think they’ve hit the standout story of the collection, only to turn the page and find another contender. It’s a marvel.”
