One Beat Festival
Unfortunately One Beat Festival won't be taking place in 2016 due to our partner and venue, mac birmingham, pulling their support for the event. We have had a look at other venues but got frightened off by licensing and insurance costs making the event non-viable.
We strongly believe that Birmingham wants and deserves a credible outdoor new music/indie festival - something that could possibly compete with Sound City in Liverpool, Great Escape in Brighton or Tramlines in Sheffield. Although we're not saying it was perfect or that we were anything close to those big names, we did have a dream to move the whole thing in to Cannon Hill Park and create something special with big names and a larger capacity but we needed mac to be on board to realise it.
Thankfully there are people like Birmingham Promoters & This Is Tmrw (who are doing great things with their All Years Leaving Festival) among other top promoters in the city.
We were very lucky to welcome some amazing artists including Swim Deep, Jaws, Ekkah, God Damn, Troumaca, Los Campesinos!, Dumb, Glass Animals, Youth Man, Kagoule, Johnny Foreigner, The Magic Gang and many more. There were a few we tried and failed to get but overall it's a pretty decent lineup for a 500 capacity event.
You never know we may be back but for now we just wanted to say a huge thankyou to the bands, mac staff, Brum Notes Magazine, Counteract, Jon, Adrian, Phil, Lloyd, Hannah, everyone who has helped out or contributed but most of all everyone who bought a ticket over the last 4 years.
Thanks all - we've loved every minute of it. (except for the bit dealing with BCC!)
