What does the Lyndon B. Johnson quote "The land flourished..." make us think of?

Do we think of how in our own times, working class natives' expressions of legitimate concerns about the distribution of resources, might be approached?

Is it possible for us to recognise that those who come from abroad have much to offer? They offer a view into other ways of life, other cultures and other experiences of the world. They also offer us the opportunity to reflect on ourselves and on our attitudes.

Do we remember that in days of yore, the resources and labour of many lands fed this land and contributed to the prosperity it now enjoys?

“The land flourished because it was fed from so many sources--because it was nourished by so many cultures and traditions and peoples.”
― Lyndon B. Johnson
