We were delighted to attend this inaugural event at Adare Manor. There were many takeaways and insights concerning the growth of SAF not just in terms of price points, quantity and acceptance but also available locations. (Bryan Sherbacow and Elouisa Dalli).

We are particularly excited about the drive to educate the population as a whole as to the positives of Business Aviation from those that detract by implying they are just used for billionaires and rock stars. Our CEO James Rolls had a very insightful discussion with Doug Gollen about how local associations and pan-regional associations such as the EBAA and NBAA could invite journalists to Business Aviation knowledge workshops.

The recent events at Schipol and Farnborough are a testament to this.

Robert Baltus spoke about the global industry view where the defence of our industry was discussed. This is a very important subject that the IBGAA fully supports. Onwards to next year and once again, congratulations.

The French unit of UK-based global charter broker Air Charter Services saw a combined 91 per cent upswing in private jet, cargo, and group charter business in the first half of the year, the company reported late last week.

ACS France CEO Alexandre Busila said the private jet division nearly tripled the revenue from last year as clients chose larger aircraft and longer trips with the easing of pandemic restrictions. In all, private jet division revenue for the company’s Paris office climbed 94 per cent from the first half of 2020, and 38 per cent from the first half of 2019. Its group charter division also saw a 71 per cent year-over-year revenue increase, partly attributed to sports travel.

In ACS France’s cargo division, flight volumes rose 78 per cent during the period and are 20 per cent higher than pre-pandemic levels. “After the initial spike in 2020 of shipping (personal protective equipment), we are now back to charters for automotive parts, project logistics, livestock, textiles, and even perishables,” Busila explained.

TAG Maintenance Services has rebranded as Dassault Aviation Business Services (DABS), following Dassault Aviation's acquisition of the maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) firm.

The rebrand reflects the focus on the European MRO network that Dassault now owns, including “one-stop-shop” MRO facilities in Geneva and Farnborough.

“Customers will see a new name, but the commitment to applying advanced technology and the ultimate in service quality will remain the same as ever,” said Madignier Franck, president, DABS. "“In fact, since the acquisition by Dassault, we have invested heavily to expand to new locations, upgrade facilities and as always stay at the leading edge of the MRO business.”

Other service locations include Basel, Lugano and Sion in Switzerland, Paris Le Bourget, Lisbon, London Luton and Luanda, Angola.

Dassault acquired Tag Aviation’s European MRO facilities in February 2019, a year after talks about a buy-out began. Just three years ago, Dassault rebranded TAG Aviation’s MRO business to TAG Maintenance Services (TMS).

Due to all its acquisitions in recent years, Dassault Aviation has added 19 new maintenance facilities and 1,000 additional service professionals to its growing maintenance network.

03/10/2022

Last week, superyachts with a combined value of somewhere near $3.8 billion gathered together in the azure waters of the tiny European principality for the 31st annual Monaco Yacht Show.

"All of the boats are here," Johan Pizzardini, head of communications and media for the Monaco Yacht Show told CNN Travel on the eve of the four-day event's grand finale. Some 118 superyachts were among the luxury vessels on display in the country's Port Hercule.

The show is dedicated explicitly to the superyacht market. Every year, an estimated 30,000 people descend on this tiny Mediterranean Riviera country to view the astounding spectacle of some of the world's biggest and most expensive superyachts assembled in one place.

It is, as Pizzardini acknowledges, a "niche market." But one that shows little signs of slowing down, despite turbulent times. There are around 40 brand new luxury yachts this year, including the massive 115.1-meter AHPO, the largest superyacht ever exhibited here.

Arthur Brouwer, chief executive officer of Dutch shipyard Heesen, notes that "order books are quite full" across the board despite elements of global uncertainty due to the "post-Covid push."

Boat International's 2022 Global Order Book indicated that 1,024 superyachts were under construction or on order in 2022, an increase of 24% on the previous year, with a 10.5% rise in orders for those measuring 45 meters and above.

12/09/2022

A second production Gulfstream G700 has completed its first flight, the Savannah, Georgia-based aircraft manufacturer said yesterday. Fully outfitted, the long-range twinjet will serve as an additional testing platform for the G700 interior, including the maturity, durability, and comfort of cabin elements.

This second production G700 features a grand suite and newly designed lavatory with natural light, full vanity, and shower, as well as a six-place dining area with an expandable, self-contained table. The LED dynamic circadian lighting system—introduced with the aircraft’s launch in 2019— is designed to replicate sunlight and can be individually programmed for each of the aircraft’s five cabin zones.

“With its combination of cabin size and technological enhancements, the G700 interior presents an abundance of opportunity for customization,” said Gulfstream president Mark Burns. “As part of our goal to exceed customer expectations, we are testing even more G700 cabin elements to ensure interior comfort and reliability.”

In addition to two production test aircraft, there are five flight-test G700s. To date, 12 G700s are in some stage of manufacturing or completed, according to the FAA registry, which is unchanged from December. Certification and service entry of the G700 is expected in mid-May, about six months later than its intended completion by year-end 2021. The certification delay is related to a line-by-line software validation—a recently added requirement from the FAA.

There’s only one week until ACE’22 commences. The business air charter event brings brokers, operators and industry participants together for one full day at London Biggin Hill airport on Tuesday, the 13th of September.

The ACA, Business Air News and Biggin Hill look forward to welcoming you to the expo, with its extensive array of business jets, turboprops and helicopters both in the hangar and on the apron. They are hosting some wonderful exhibitors from across the sector and offer a conference programme that will further a good understanding of the industry.

“I am very excited about the event this year,” says publisher David Wright. “ACE’22 is set to be the best yet. When we started our journey, we set out to deliver a serious networking and training event where air charter brokers could interact formally with operators and other industry professionals. We achieved just that in our first event, in 2017, and interest from exhibitors and attendees has just kept on growing.”

Charter is valuable, and ACE’22 brings together the players and the platforms for just one crucial day each year in one location.

We will attend the event and look forward to seeing you all there. If you want to schedule a meeting with us, please email [email protected].

Luxaviation Group has added six aircraft to its global fleet. Five aircraft, a Bombardier Global 5000, a Cessna Citation CJ2, two brand new Cessna Citation CJ4 Gen2s and a Beechcraft King Air 260, will be available for charter. At the same time, a Bombardier Challenger 604 is being added to Luxaviation's privately managed fleet.

Luxaviation UK CEO and head of charter sales, Europe George Galanopoulos says: "Such rapid expansion of our charter fleet shows how powerfully and confidently we are emerging from the shadow of the pandemic. Our ever-growing fleet offers increasingly diverse options to meet the mission demands of any customer.

"Whether supporting our charter flight clients or managing the valuable and important private jet assets of owners, we always deliver the highest standards of safety, reliability, value and service."

Luxaviation will be exhibiting on stand A8 at Air Charter Expo 2022 at London Biggin Hill airport on the 13th of September, 2022 and showcasing a unique charter offering for the European market with a Fairchild Dornier 328 Jet on static display. The Fairchild Dornier 328 is a converted airliner and is the perfect option for charter flights throughout Europe. It is extremely popular with groups travelling with oversized luggage.

Galanopoulos adds: "The Fairchild Dornier 328 is one of our most popular charter jets in Europe, and we're sure it will gain a lot of traction on the static and will be an interesting talking point at ACE'22. Artists and musicians enjoy this aircraft to support their busy tour schedules and may additionally opt to brand the aircraft exterior for that perfect Instagram moment."

Luxaviation Group aviation commercial programme director Chay White will join the ACE'22 panel session 'Innovation update - eVTOL operations within the charter market' at 16.15 BST. White brings his extensive and broad wisdom of business aviation to extend his insights on pressing topics shaping the future of our industry.

“The Four Seasons Private Jet Experience is a testament to our commitment to innovation and the creative pursuit of the extraordinary. We continue to reimagine the conventional limits of travel to deliver unmatched exceptional luxury experiences,” says Christian Clerc, president, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

“Guest feedback continues to shape the experience, from the custom-design of the new Four Seasons Private Jet to the introduction of shorter itineraries for time-challenged travellers who want to experience more in less time,” adds Clerc.

The first of 2024’s trips are as follows:

African Wonders, 28th of December 2023 – 9th of January 2024
Athens – The Pyramids – Serengeti – Mauritius – Rwanda – Victoria Falls – Johannesburg

NEW Asia Unveiled, 11th -26th of January 2024

With an ever increasing need for luxury travel, it's of no surprise that The Four Seasons have their own jet to satisfy the demands of their clients. To see that they are almost fully booked for the 2023 season is yet another supporting factor in this. Congratulations to the teams involved.

17/08/2022

Fabergé is celebrating 180 years this week. A lot has changed in the last 180 years. The British crown has changed hands five times, dozens of prime ministers have come and gone, two world wars rocked the globe, and witnessed the emergence and later refinement of inventions like the car, the telephone and the internet. But, through all that, Fabergé has endured.

Fabergé as a company has evolved considerably nearly two centuries since its founding. However, they are still primarily famous for what they have always been known for: making iconic jewellery and its fabled egg objets. To mark its 180th anniversary this year, Fabergé is collaborating with its parent company, Gemfields, on a unique new collection.

The 180th anniversary capsule collection comprises the Colours of Love Rose Gold Diamond and Ruby Fluted ‘180’ Egg Pendant and the 180 limited-edition Rose Gold and Ruby Mini Fluted ‘180’ Egg Objets. Both creations have been crafted from 18k rose gold and feature responsibly sourced Gemfields Mozambican rubies.

In honour of the occasion, Professional Jeweller sat down for the first time with the brand’s Josina von dem Bussche-Kessell, to find out what it means to her and the wider Fabergé team to reach 180 years in business.

Now global sales director, Bussche-Kessell has held several roles at Fabergé over the last ten years.

She proudly says of her time there: “I have been part of a remarkable evolution and, whilst that has been very challenging, we’ve managed to restore Fabergé to its former glory whilst also giving it a contemporary meaning and relevance.”

“We’re excited to show off some of our roots with this collection, and highlight the origins of the brand when Fabergé was known as ‘the Goldsmith by special appointment to the Imperial Crown’,” says Bussche-Kessell.

17/08/2022

American Airlines and Boom Supersonic announced on the 16th of August 2022 the agreement to purchase up to 20 Overture aircraft, with an option for an additional 40. American has paid a non-refundable deposit on the initial 20 aircraft. Overture is expected to carry passengers at twice the speed of today’s fastest commercial airliner.

Boom Supersonic’s Overture would introduce a crucial new speed advantage to American’s fleet, which is currently the simplest, youngest and most efficient among U.S. network carriers. Under the terms of the agreement, Boom must meet industry-standard operating, performance and safety requirements as well as American’s other customary conditions before delivery of any Overtures.

“Looking to the future, supersonic travel will be an important part of our ability to deliver for our customers,” said Derek Kerr, American’s Chief Financial Officer. “We are excited about how Boom will shape the future of travel both for our company and our customers.”

Overture is being designed to carry 65 to 80 passengers at Mach 1.7 over water — or twice the speed of today’s fastest commercial aircraft — with a range of 4,250 nautical miles. Optimised for speed, safety and sustainability, Overture is also being designed to fly more than 600 routes worldwide in as little as half the time. Flying from Miami to London in just under five hours and Los Angeles to Honolulu in three hours are among the many possibilities.

“We are proud to share our vision of a more connected and sustainable world with American Airlines,” said Blake Scholl, Founder and CEO of Boom. “We believe Overture can help American deepen its competitive advantage on network, loyalty and overall airline preference through the paradigm-changing benefits of cutting travel times in half.”

In July, Boom revealed the final production design of Overture, which is slated to roll out in 2025 and carry its first passengers by 2029.

16/08/2022

Powered by its acquisitions of Jet Edge and Air Hamburg, Vista Global’s fleet has now increased to over 350 private jets. The leading private jet provider said it generated 43% year-on-year growth across its combined subscription member base, and sales across VistaJet’s Program, its version of a jet card, reached all-time highs.

It saw a 25% increase in VistaJet members, driving 76% growth in gross Program hours sold during H1 2022 year-on-year. That’s 27% higher than the pre-pandemic full year of 2019. The number of XO’s deposit members also continued increasing by 33% against the same time last year. Jet Edge, acquired in May, added 400 unique members through the brand’s Reserve program.

With deposit levels of $100,000 to $500,000, that implies sales of up to $200,000 million. Last year Jet Edge said it surpassed the $100 million mark in Reserve sales.

On the fleet side, the acquisitions of Jet Edge and Air Hamburg and buying new and used jets have increased Vista Global’s fleet to over 350 private jets from around 200 tails at the end of 2021. VistaJet now counts a dozen Bombardier Global 7500s, which is expected to grow to at least 17 by year’s end.

European flight activity and revenue for VistaJet more than doubled during H1 2022. Asia saw a 77% year-on-year increase, while Middle East sales ticked up 60% compared to 2021.

“It has been an impressive start to 2022 for Vista as we continue to grow across all markets globally, particularly in the United States. As business aviation remains robust, we have seen huge demand as clients turn to Vista for their flying needs,” said Chairman and Founder Thomas Flohr.

ACC Aviation's all-VIP Boeing B757-200 is ready to commence charter work, having been newly certified by the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority and placed on the Air Operator's Certificate of Freedom II.

ACC Aviation is the aircraft's sales and marketing agent, providing direct access to this 62-seater for ad hoc and charter programmes. With demand expected to be high, the company has built a dedicated charter team who will work hand-in-hand with Minnesota-based Perigean Aviation, providing worldwide charter capacity.

The B757 has a 62-seat configuration which bridges the gap between private charter and scheduled services, providing a flexible transport solution for larger groups.

With the upcoming autumn season, including touring programmes, substantial MICE travel and the FIFA World Cup, the aircraft will provide much-needed capacity for group travelling.

ACC CEO Phil Mathews says: "We are thrilled for Freedom II to have this unique aircraft on its AOC. With high demand for private jets and large commercial aircraft, there could not be a better time to bring this aircraft back to the market, and we are excited to see the first enquiries coming through."

09/08/2022

Italy-based operator Air Corporate directors Roano Grandi, Jacopo Foroni and Paolo Serini have bought a new Bombardier Challenger 3500 for delivery in April 2024. This latest acquisition continues the expansion project of the company’s fixed wing segment, which already consists of one Pilatus PC24 delivered in 2021 and another delivered at the end of 2023.

“We’re thrilled to be adding the new Challenger 3500 aircraft to our fleet,” says Grandi. “This exceptional aircraft provides us with an outstanding option to further enhance our charter business and provide our discerning customers with an exceptional private aircraft experience at every level.”

Air Corporate has chosen the Challenger 3500 as it introduces an exclusive series of technical and design innovations for the mid-size segment not available for other models on the market. It will be equipped with the first voice-controlled cabin capable of managing the lighting, temperature and entertainment systems; the first wireless chargers arranged in various points of the cabin; a 24-inch 4k screen; and the Nuage Seat that is already used on the Global platform. It has eWAS Pilot technology with OptiFlight by SITA, nicknamed ‘Eco App’ by the Canadian aerospace group, that, for the first time on an aircraft of this type, allows pilots to reduce fuel consumption by five to six per cent in the climb phase of flight and carbon emissions during all three flight phases: ascent, cruise and descent.

Air Corporate will be the first company to offer the aircraft for charter in Europe.

“The new Challenger 3500 aircraft is the perfect charter solution for Air Corporate and other flight departments, offering a seamless corporate travel experience,” says Bombardier regional vice president, sales, Europe Ettore Rodaro. “With its impressive performance, consistent reliability and exceptionally smooth ride, it is the industry’s leading super mid-size business jet.”

08/08/2022

Luxaviation reported that charter inquiries had surpassed the 1,000 per day mark as clients seek to travel to popular summer destinations around the Mediterranean, mainland Greece, Portugal, and Spain.
In June and July, inquiries ranged between 800 and 1,050 per day, Luxaviation said, noting in the two months prior, its UK charter office had received up to 400 per day.

“Incoming inquiries are off the scale; we’ve never experienced such a busy period,” said George Galanopoulos, CEO of Luxaviation UK and head of charter sales Europe for the Luxaviation Group. “This is partly due to post-pandemic new users choosing to fly privately and safely, but also new users who want to avoid the current airport and airline chaos of delays and cancellations.”

He added that the approach to travel is evolving this summer as well. “Typically, we are seeing extended families who regularly fly with us, now travelling with an additional two or three families, enabling them to help spread the cost, travel safely, and avoid lengthy queues at airports,” he said.

Luxaviation is managing this uptick with its broad fleet, but it also has begun encouraging regular clients to consider buying aircraft to offset their charter overhead and ensure availability.

Cessna/Textron has recently launched another campaign with us for the summer months. Moving away from the alpine-centric activation aimed at those flying in for the ski season, we have now looked toward the top summer locations here in Europe. These two high-impact sites in Ibiza's only private jet terminal allow for 100% SOV to all those who visit the airport by private jet. A truly effective marketing campaign aimed directly at the wealthiest holidaymakers who visit the island during peak season.

22/07/2022

Earlier this year, Boom Supersonic announced it was opening a “Superfactory” in North Carolina to start work on its new Overture business jet. This week, the Colorado-based aerospace company responsible for the world’s fastest airliner dropped new renders of the hotly anticipated supersonic aircraft. It looks like quite the jet, too.

The 205-foot newcomer features sculpted wings designed to enhance supersonic performance while improving transonic handling to ensure stability at any speed. According to Boom, it will be equipped with no less than four engines that will allow it to soar at Mach 1.7 (1,304 mph) and fly for more than 4,200 nautical miles. (For comparison’s sake: that’s roughly double the speed of many commercial airliners). The team claims the Overture will also be the first of its kind with an automated noise reduction system for a smooth take-off without the use of afterburners.

The aircraft will be made primarily from carbon composite materials to make it lighter, stronger and more stable than its metal competitors. Upon completion, the Overture will be able to carry between 65 and 80 passengers. It will have a cruising altitude of 60,000 feet and be capable of running on 100 per cent sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

“Overture is revolutionary in its design, and it will fundamentally change how we think about distance,” Boom founder and CEO Blake Scholl said in a statement. “With more than 600 routes across the globe, Overture will make the world dramatically more accessible for tens of millions of passengers.”

Boom expects to start production on the Overture in 2024, with the first aircraft completed by 2025 and entering service in 2029. The company has already received 70 orders from brands such as United and Japan Airlines.
