There is a huge amount of jargon used for marketing and ads, so much it can feel like it has its own language. So we have shared a few explanations below to shed some light on the more commonly used terms.
A/B testing - when running an ad on social, you change one variable at a time (maybe the image or copy) to see which your audience prefers.
Algorithm - the social platform's machine learning systems, which constantly monitor what you do online in order to show you content personalised to your interests and behaviours.
Campaign Budget Optimisation - when running an ad on social, you can select Facebook to choose where your ads will be placed in order to maximise their potential (in stories or on the news feed for example).
Evergreen Content - this is a term for content that does not go out of date, it will stay relevant to the reader no matter when it was created or first posted.
Impressions - The number of times your content has been displayed.
Reach - The number of accounts who have seen your content. Impressions will always be higher than reach, as each person's account could have seen your content multiple times.
UGC - User Generated Content - This is created by your customers for use on your social platforms. This could be their photographs with your products, or maybe a review of one of your services.
There are many, many more, but hopefully, this has helped to demystify a few. If there are any others we can help with just let us know in the comments below. 👇
