Ideas On A Postcard is a micro record label and gig promoter based in the wonderful city of Sheffield. Working with studio partner Sounds Like Screaming, we aim to record, produce and promote small scale releases of the brilliant records being made by high quality independent artists in Sheffield. As a promoter, we work with some of the great small venues in the city including the Greystones, Shak
espeares, Blue Moon Cafe, the Lantern Theatre and the Riverside to showcase local musicians and bring new and exciting touring artists to Sheffield. We're very new and a tiny operation, but we're really pleased with what's happened so far, namely releasing (and selling out) 'Spinning Yarns', the fantastic debut album by The Mother Folkers, and launching new artist Frankie Vera with the release of her single 'Toes'. We've also brought musicians including Tyde, Bridie Jackson & The Arbour, Joe Banfi, Laura James & The Lyres and Yarbo to Sheffield as well as promoting local artists including Golden Age Magicians, Nick Maldini, Louis Romegoux, The QP, Flamingo Love Parade and Robert George Saull. IOAP is the brainchild of Ben Eckersley and so far he's the only person on board (though he is massively grateful for the help of many good friends) so when he says 'we' that's basically the royal 'we'. That means only one record being made at a time, and only a handful of gigs per year - but if you're coming from afar and on the look out for a good gig in Sheffield, or coming from near and want some good support slots, or simply want to make a classic album then get in touch and if we can accommodate you we will. Primarily we're looking to work with folk and acoustic artists because that's what we know - but Ben has wide ranging tastes, so don't hold back.
