It’s absolutely terrifying thinking back to what I did

BUT ….

We have long subscribed to a positive parenting model. We don’t always get it right but we have always tried to calm parent and there is not much we say no too. We set boundaries around the things they do, but we generally look at how the children can do things rather than not do them.

And hopefully they won’t do the stupid things that I did!

It will pass ....

You’re not imagining it, nobody seems to want to talk right now.
Messages are brief and replies late.
Talk of catch ups on zoom are perpetually put on hold.
Group chats are no longer pinging all night long.

It’s not you.
It’s everyone.
We are spent.
We have nothing left to say.
We are tired of saying ‘I miss you’ and ‘I cant wait for this to end’.
So we mostly say nothing, put our heads down and get through each day.

You’re not imagining it.
This is a state of being like no other we have ever known because we are all going through it together but so very far apart.

Hang in there my friend.
When the mood strikes, send out all those messages and don’t feel you have to apologise for being quiet.

This is hard.

No one is judging.

One of my resolutions for 2021 is to be more sustainable and think about my carbon footprint more, so obviously moving from wine to gin is a step in the right direction ;-)

We know that any New Years Eve plans have practically been thwarted by the latest Tier announcements and tonight we will be enjoying a more restricted New Years Eve than we are used to.

We might be missing out on parties tonight but there is some good news, by not having the usual NYE blow out means that we are reducing our carbon emissions just a little. (Got to find the silver lining somewhere eh?)
