Alberto Rodriguez-Garcia writes about 'Upon the Wave'

"Knowing the boundaries of the wave and in which direction it leads can help us see what possibilities exist outside of it still lurking in the expanse of creative experience; as the old saying goes “you have to know the rules in order to break them.”

Peter Eastway writes about the 'Art of Aerial Photography'

"Love them or not, the aerial abstract is incredibly popular and while it's quite askance to traditional landscapes, I find that the same attention to detail and technique is required."

In this issue Michela Griffith Photography interviews Bernd and Gundula Walz as our featured photographers.

"We both invest a lot of time in post-processing. In our opinion, it is only in this step of the workflow that a photo becomes a picture. In post-processing, we can give the image our personal style. "

Daniel Eek writes about 'Love of a mountain - A counterbalance for everything else around'

"Yet art is precisely what must be allowed to counterbalance everything else around, what challenges the seemingly obvious. Experience through art is something that speaks to the depths of our being and has the ability to counteract those aspects of us that are destructive and selfish."

Bremner Benedict writes about 'Hidden Waters'

"The start of Hidden Waters was serendipitous. Living in a bone-dry, high desert Western town founded on the site of a natural spring, I gained firsthand experience about the vital importance of water."

Mieke Boynton Photography writes about "Photographing the Simple Beauty of Nature"

"It is a rewarding experience for me to interact with people in this way, and it goes a long way towards alleviating my early concerns that landscape photography is simply a self-indulgent activity."

Keith Beven writes about "The Road Not Taken - in praise of Walking and Serendipity"

"Walking remains a relatively cheap way of travelling (depending on how far you need to pay for accommodation if walking long distances) but takes time. While the slow speed is an advantage for the photographer, taking the camera for a walk also has some disadvantages."

Kenny Thatcher writes about 'Exploration and Remembrance in Southwestern Oklahoma'

"Southwestern Oklahoma is not considered a famous tourist destination, but that’s another reason I have always been drawn back to that part of the U.S. The refuge itself has long held a peculiar place in my memory because it is so very different compared to my home in Appalachia."

Michela Griffith Photography talks to Danielle Macleod as our featured photographer this issue:

"Danielle Macleod is a mask maker and photographer based in the Isle of Lewis. Her photography draws on traditional Hebridean culture, local stories and her upbringing there. Her practice involves creating wearable sculptures from foraged and discovered natural materials. When these masks are photographed in the natural environment they bring to life creatures that exist in an other-world, demonstrating the artist’s connection to her culture, tradition and place."

"Sometimes, the most captivating images emerge only when we resign ourselves to the possibility of not finding anything at all. Perhaps it is in these moments that we are truly open to being surprised."
