Some still photography from the filming of Something Sketchy’s Secret Agent sketch yesterday.

So much fun filming this, with the incredible talents of Piotr Szkopiak and Tom Hines joining the team to help bring this sketch to life.

Can’t wait to share the finished film next year!

The ASK team had a lovely time this weekend filming another sketch for Something Sketchy. This time, the "Evil Cafeteria" sketch, directed by Luke Allen & Alex Yousefi (Reduced To Clear).

Huge thanks to everyone who helped bring this sketch to life - bring on next week's sketch filming!

BBC Upload dedicated a very lovely part of their Shropshire show to this new radio sketch I recently produced.

"Derek's Birthday" features the voices of Steve Evets (Looking for Eric, Rev.) and Michael Fenton Stevens (Benidorm, Nighty Night) as two gangsters who find themselves with an awkward misunderstanding.

It’s been a very successful few days of recces and location scouting this week!

On Sunday, director Piotr Szkopiak joined us with some of the crew to recce a location in Telford, ahead of filming soon. (I forgot to take any pictures for the socials then!).

On Wednesday, I headed to Cheltenham to meet with director Eddie O’Keeffe, to recce a location ahead of filming there next year.

And then it was on into Bristol on Wednesday evening to visit the new PYTCH film studio, with director Keith Wilhelm Kopp, for their launch party. A brilliant new space that we hope to use soon!

And, finally, a final solo recce in Bristol yesterday afternoon.

A really lovely and productive week to piece together the sketch show that we hope to share with you all next year!

If you find yourself in Sheffield tomorrow, head along to the Sheffield Christian Film & Media Festival for an incredible line up of films and talks (also Luke will be rambling on for a bit!*)

Luke will be speaking about what he considers to be the peaks and troughs of “Christian Cinema” and what many of them are missing!

It’s looking to be a very fun event and is well worth popping along to!

*technically Luke’s attendance is dependent on public transport and weather, given the storm, but it’s worth attending nonetheless!

All of us at ASK want to send our huge congratulations to Lola Blue, upon her nomination for “Best Performance in a Drama” at the Royal Television Society Awards for the North West.

Lola is nominated for her performance in “A Kind Of Spark” and is up against the likes of Helena Bonham Carter for the award!

We are honoured to have had her feature in one of our sketches and we wish her all the best for the award. Meanwhile, we may celebrate this occasion with a rewatch of A Kind of Spark - which you can watch for free on BBC iPlayer!

In production meetings over the past few weeks, there has been much discussion and debate in deciding who will be directing the final sketch of the show and I’m excited to share that Chloë Brown will be taking on the role.

Chloë joined us on set last week for the first sketch we filmed and greatly impressed the whole team!

"Honestly, it's amazing to be invited to direct a sketch for ASK. I've directed before for theatre, but this is a great opportunity to work with some fantastic people - they were an absolute blast when I worked with them last week!" Said Chloë.

And we’re all incredibly excited to see what she brings to the table!

CAST ANNOUNCEMENT

We're very excited to announce that GRAHAM SEED will be joining the cast of our sketch show, SOMETHING SKETCHY.

Graham has been a familiar face (and voice) in British film, TV and radio for decades and we are honoured to have him onboard!

Graham's credits include BAND OF BROTHERS, GANDHI, DINNERLADIES, and he is probably most known for playing Nigel Pargetter in THE ARCHERS.

He will be joining the cast of the first sketch that we will be filming (soon!) and will share his scene with A KIND OF SPARK's LOLA BLUE, so it is fair to say it will be an incredibly fun day on-set (and a thrill to watch too, we hope!)!

And Graham is no stranger to the world of sketch comedy as he previously appeared in the iconic sketch show, VICTORIA WOOD: AS SEEN ON TV.

Please join us in welcoming Graham Seed to the team!

Helen and Luke, 2 of the producers of our upcoming sketch show, Something Sketchy, went to see a screening of “Translations” today, directed by Keith Wilhelm Kopp - a man who will be lending his directing skills to one of our sketches!

The film was fantastic and reassured us both that we made a great call in asking him to join our project - and we are very very honoured and excited to see what he will do with it!

Catch Translations if it is screening anywhere near you!

There’s been a fair few Director announcements from us recently, but here’s one more…!

Reece Ord is joining our sketch show, Something Sketchy, to direct one of the sketches. I last worked with Reece back in 2021 when he was AD for “Reduced To Clear“ and that, combined with his own projects, showed that he would be perfect for this one!

"I'm very excited to have been asked to work on the 'Something Sketchy' project. It’s going to be great to work with Luke, some other familiar faces and working with new talented people", Reece said upon joining the show.

And we’re all excited to see what he does to bring a sketch to life!

We’re excited to announce that Eddie O’Keeffe is joining the team of directors behind our sketch show, Something Sketchy!

Eddie is a comedian and the creator of the improv-comedy podcast, Budgens and Dragons - and so it is fair to say that he knows how to ensure things are funny!

On joining the project, Eddie said that he was “Delighted to be asked to return to sketch comedy after many years away. The silliness of the sketch comedy format and the creative freedom it allows everyone is the best. It’s always a pleasure working with Luke and I think this is something very special”.

We’re very much looking forward to seeing how he brings one of our sketches to life!

Let’s all welcome another director to the team behind “Something Sketchy”, our new sketch comedy film!

Introducing Keith Wilhelm Kopp, Keith is an award winning film director who recently released his debut feature film, Translations!

He’s an incredibly skilled and passionate director and we are all very excited to welcome him to the team!

“I am really excited to be directing a segment on Something Sketchy, the great writing, absurdist humor and amazing team is going to make a show that will make you laugh until you cry or die. I look forward to working with Luke and Ask Seek Knock, stay tuned for something awkward”, said Keith.

And we’re all very excited to welcome him onboard!

CASTING ANNOUNCEMENT

After a lovely and productive meeting today at Yorks Cafe, I am very excited to announce that Lola Blue is joining the cast of our sketch show, Something Sketchy!

Lola is a fantastic actress, most recently seen playing the lead role of “Addie” in the hit CBBC show, “A Kind Of Spark”. Her other credits include The Dumping Ground, Miss Scarlet & The Duke, and The Worst Witch.

After watching her portrayal in that incredible show, we felt that she would be perfect for one of our roles and were thrilled to get this casting over the line!

We are all very very excited to get to work with her - and, in the meantime, you should all watch A Kind Of Spark on BBC iPlayer to see the incredible talent of this project’s latest star!

I am incredibly excited to be able to announce that the wonderful PNP Events Ltd are joining the sketch show, "Something Sketchy" as production partners.

PNP Events work across the country to put together high-scale events, most notably the Polar Express, that you can catch a trip on during the festive season!

After an incredibly productive and exciting meeting today, I am thrilled with what we have in store for this collaboration and very excited to begin work on our first sketch!

Phil Neal, of PNP events, had this to say of the collaboration:

"It’s fantastic to be able to nurture up and coming creatives in the Telford area, and Luke has the right ethos and drive to go places with the right support. We are really looking forward to being a part of his Journey, and partnering on future projects"

And I'm looking forward to it, too!

I’m excited to announce that the legendary Ninette Finch will be making an appearance in our upcoming sketch comedy film, “Something Sketchy”.

Ninette is a very prolific performer in the world of comedy and her credits include Derek, After Life, and Ted Lasso.

Very little can be said about her character in Something Sketchy, but you’re all in for a treat!

I had the privilege of working with Ninette back in 2021 for “Reduced To Clear” and I am very much looking forward to getting the privilege to do so again!

It's time for another director announcement.

I'm excited to announce that my good friend and frequent collaborator, AMY MUNT, will be lending her directorial skills to our sketch show, Something Sketchy.

Amy Munt, known to several of us as "Nasa" (its a long story!) has worked on a variety of projects including the films 'Blue' and 'Weightless Words', and she is a fellow associate producer on the TV pilot, 'Henry House'.

On joining the sketch show, Amy had this to say:
"Having previously only directed and worked within drama, I was thrilled when Luke at Ask Seek Knock asked me if I would like to direct a sketch for “Something Sketchy”. I look forward to getting to work on something new and different!"

And we're all excited to work with her!

I'm very excited to announce another name that is joining the team of directors behind, "Something Sketchy" - our new sketch show!

Joining Luke Allen; Helen Austin; Piotr Szkopiak; and Alex Yousefi, STUART HARDY will be working on one of the sketches and making it his own.

Hardy previously directed the horror-comedy short, The Voice, and runs the successful YouTube channel, Stubagful and the anthology audio drama series, "Abnormal Stories". He is also currently directing the comedy short film "Got Your Nose", which I have the privilege of producing.

Stuart Hardy has this to say about joining the show:

"In an era where sketch comedy is more successful than ever ( but is basically all in the mould of TikTok and greenscreens), I'm excited to try and do something in a more traditional vein of Monty Python, The Two Ronnies and Harry Enfield. I want real locations, real props, I want to make sketches that feel like they exist as small snippets of strange worlds."

Myself and my fellow producers are very excited and honoured to welcome Stuart to the show!

CREW ANNOUNCEMENT

Anyone who has seen any of my work in the past few years may recognise the name "Helen Austin" from the credits. And there's very good reason for that - she is a dedicated and committed creative, both in front and behind the camera.

I'm very thrilled to be able to announce that Helen is joining the key team behind "Something Sketchy", our new sketch comedy show. Helen won't only be part of the recurring ensemble cast, appearing in several of the sketches, but she is also making her debut as a producer and director!

She will be joining myself and Alex Yousefi as producers, and will be joining the team of directors that are each taking a comedy sketch and making it their own!

"I've been looking forward to this project. Get ready for cheesy punch lines and sketchy business", Helen said of joining the team behind "Something Sketchy".

VERY EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT

Something Sketchy, the new comedy sketch show produced by Ask Seek Knock, is structured in an interesting way… each sketch will have a different director.

I’m very excited to announce that legendary film and TV director, PIOTR SZKOPIAK, is coming onboard to direct one of these sketches.

Piotr’s credits include Shakespeare & Hathaway; EastEnders; Doctors; and the feature film, The Last Witness - starring Alex Pettyfer, Talulah Riley, and Michael Gambon!

And Piotr’s even been nominated for a BAFTA!

On joining the sketch show, written by Luke Allen and produced by Luke Allen and Alex Yousefi, Piotr had this to say…

"I am hugely excited to be working with the young and ambitious producers at Ask Seek Knock in the hope I can deliver a giggle at least."

It’s safe to say that we’re all very excited to get to work with, and be directed by, such an incredible talent!

Introducing Ask Seek Knock (ASK)

ASK is a company (founded by filmmaker Luke Allen) that specialises in film producing, production management, and screenwriting services. I have some very big and exciting projects in the works (which you can read a tad about on the site - but there’s so much more to come).

And, to my fellow industry friends, I would also like to draw your attention to the FREE Crew Call-Outs element of the site. Just list which role you have yet to fill on your film set and I can forward the details of your project to those that may suit it.

A lot of the opportunities I’ve been lucky enough to have have been direct results of help from those “higher up the ladder” than myself, and the ethos of this company is built upon the importance of just asking … “If you don’t ask, you don’t get!”.

Please hop on over to www.askseekknock.co.uk and our social pages to find out more!

Thanks to Katrina Hajowyj for the fantastic logo!
