CineMavericks has had quite the journey so far! We started in the pandemic as a response to finding a way to connect with the globe & still be able to make things - all from home. Meeting kids worldwide & helping them express themselves was a true joy ✨ We were then invited to some school workshops in London and event got to lead a sponsored content creation event for 100+ kids! 🔫🤳🏽

We’ve tried & tested our hybrid model, keeping the online classes going weekly. If you haven’t yet, sign up to one of them & see what your kids can create! 🎞

Next up: holiday camps in May and the summer, it’ll roll around fast and we’re here for it 📽🎬

It’s been 5 years since I made Beautiful in the Morning with this unbelievable team 🎥 I miss the smiling faces, the deep collaboration, and the family spirit that made this experience so special 💛

💁🏻‍♀️ Shout out to my leading ladies Harriet Janine Birkett Chloe De Burgh, my female filmmakers Maggie R Drahovska Marina Oftedal Ksenia Kulakova Alice, & my editor extraordinaire Cristina Balduin. Thank you for taking us from art to our world premiere in LA Femme Film Festival 💁🏻‍♀️

Filming in Summer 2017 lead to 2 years of post-production & festival submissons, followed by 2 years around the globe via LA, NYC, & London 🌎 By 2021, we were acquired by Herflix and our little DYI film found a home. 📺

I am so fond of all the crew who gave life to my beloved Hampstead Heath, and who believed in our story. Also, I am forever grateful that we actually pulled off making a British summer look warm (see last pic) 🥶

📽 So pleased to have participated as a jury member in this year’s Rough Cut film festival, which celebrates short films made by LFNY students 🎬

I used to be a student there, and it was lovely to see so much creativity in the room. I also got to play one of my own shorts. 10 years after making The Solar System, it screened to a full house! 🍿

This Thanksgiving, there’s a couple of things I’m grateful for. Over 4 years, taking Beautiful in the Morning from script to screen was a demanding experience that required my 100% commitment. Directing it, I learned how to make pointed decisions quickly, and nurture an environment that allowed the team to thrive. Making it while working a 9-5 taught me resilience, resourcefulness, and how to prioritize. Producing it, I learned about keeping the end-goal, the story itself, at the forefront of every small detail along the way, and how to protect that story with everything I’ve got. Seeing my feature film on the big screen was overwhelming and anxiety-inducing, but it also presented me with a new sense of validation. Now, with more screenings ligned up and a few interviews in, I gave my film a little life of its own, and did the best I could to do it justice, while balancing the desk job and a non-existent budget. But fuelling this product and being able to share it gave me, above all, a gift I could never have predicted. It unlocked within myself a new sense of empowerment, an entrepreneurial spirit I didn’t know I had. If I can realise this project, what else can I create, start up, or build? For this energising & freeing horizon of possibility, and for all the people that helped nourish it, I am thankful🙏🏼
