The Bounce Festival gets underway tomorrow! We love this story in today's Belfast Telegraph about trombonist Will McLean who will be closing the three day fest on Sunday at The Black Box with a gig with The Vibes. The Festival is run by University of Atypical for Arts and Disability

Will McLean lives for his music which is why when a devastating stroke left him paralysed down one side five years ago, the talented trombone player felt as if his life was over.

Help for parents!

Education charity Into Film has created a new homeschooling survival package to help beleaguered families in Northern Ireland get to the end of the current lockdown.

There are three different packages available to parents and teachers: a Home-Learning During COVID Resource, the Film Buff Challenge and ScreenWorks Online.

The Into Film site has a huge range of free, fun activities that young people can complete independently. Go to www.intofilm.org/theme/96 to find the full range.

The Film Buff Challenge is suitable for seven to 14-year-olds and is designed to support all levels and styles of learning. The Challenge runs until the end of summer term and is open to all schools in Northern Ireland. Find out more at www.intofilm.org/filmbuff

Finally, ScreenWorks online is a programme for secondary school pupils to learn about screen industry careers. With a mix of digital classroom learning and videos about work in the sector from some of Northern Ireland’s leading professionals. Visit www.intofilm.org/screenworksonline

With the death of our friend Chris Ledger, Northern Ireland has lost an unrivalled advocate for the Arts and tireless campaigner for the right of all people to fulfil their creative potential.
As the force of nature behind the University of Atypical Chris had a fierce commitment to celebrating and showcasing the talent of disabled artists and helping their careers flourish and develop.
One of her many legacies was the success of the Bounce Festival - her boundless enthusiasm and refusal to take no for answer made it one of the best events in Northern Ireland’s Arts calendar.
She had immense energy, a fantastic sense of humour and ability to light up a room with her infectious laughter. She made people feel good about themselves and others which is a rare gift. Goodbye Chris.

Today the Women's Policy Group will launch its 126 page report calling for emergency action to address the pandemic’s disproportionate impact on women.

Although globally men are more likely to be diagnosed with the virus and to die from it, the Women's Policy Group says the social and economic affect the pandemic had on women can no longer be ignored.

One hundred and twenty long term unemployed people are now in a new job thanks to a forward-looking three year jobs programme in South Belfast funded by the Social Investment Fund (SIF) under the Delivering Social Change framework.
EmployAbility South has helped find jobs for people who have been unable to find work because of low educational attainment, disability and health issues, lack of experience and other factors.
More than 500 people took part in the programme – with many leaving with either full-time employment, increased skills, mentoring support or work experience.
As the project finishes this month (March 2018), the organisation that delivered the programme, Gems NIwill continue to seek new funding to help support more people and give them the hope of a new chance in life.
