“We are both big fans of Shane MacGowan’s work and (like everyone) felt bereft at his recent passing. Eliza met him a couple of times and he was lovely. We have loved singing this song on stage on the tour - so ubiquitous and yet constantly surprising. Surely the edgiest Christmas hit of all time. A seasonal offering as this week’s Featured Album and it comes from one of the best-known names in British folk music, Eliza Carthy, who has joined up with English songwriter, musician and former lead singer of Bellowhead, Jon Boden, to record ‘Glad Christmas Comes’ which was out last month on Hudson Records.

The Slovakian-Norwegian orchestra Angrusori released their debut album ‘Live at Tou’ on Hudson Records in May 2021. New connections have been developed between contemporary improvised music from Norway and traditional Slovak Roma music. The music combines, and at times fuses two distinctive spheres of musical culture: on the one hand, an ancient migratory song tradition, and on the other, contemporary, experimental improvisation.
