Are you involved in student activism? Have you got a story worth telling? Is there a cause you’d like to share?

Or, are you interested in a career in media? Do you enjoy asking the hard questions? Do you want to help people feel more informed? Do you have an idea for a fun and/or informative segment?

Warwick PPE Society is for and by students, so it makes sense that the podcast is the same. We’re looking for PPE students that we could interview on the podcast, as well as the PPE students that could interview them, or host a segment. We'd love you to be a part of the podcast, and in return, you’ll be able to demonstrate a variety of skills and share the stories that are most important to the student body.

The form for expressing your interest can be found below, and the deadline is the 31st of August. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch, otherwise, we’re looking forward to hearing you behind the mike!

The first of its kind - a collaboration between iNSIGHT’S Harry Ward and by Warwick Economics Society Emily Vaughan that incorporates all three of the PPE strands. The perfect way to end this mini-series of sharing the work of our talented iNSIGHT’S writers from our pioneering magazine, ‘Justice’.

It is commonly argued that rehabilitation is a more long-term form of the justice system. However, is it always better than punishment - the more traditional route for justice? Read more as these wonderful writers collaborate, sharing their views on why we should focus more on rehabilitation than punishment ...

As French philosopher Michel Foucault puts it , the late 18th century saw prisons starting to employ methods aimed at ‘disciplining the soul’, in combination with punishment, in an attempt to build a better and more progressive society. One method used to correct behaviour in this way is rehabil...

PPE’s Kieran Barry suggests that “the North/South divide is not as harmless as it seems” - “the North has been left behind” due to current political factors. He urges for more to be done to promote equality between the regions.

Read more as he shares some historical context and personal experiences to solidify his views on northern discrimination and inequality in England ...

Perhaps the one piece of context needed for this article - I am a Northerner who has experienced the impact of the North/South divide. Our own university lacks Northern representation, and I hope to be able to bring attention to a societal issue which has perhaps not been fully considered by many in

Did you know that approximately 6,000 stores in the United Kingdom have closed since the beginning of the pandemic? Is it true that larger companies have an unfair advantage? Do you think the British government has done enough to support these small and local businesses post-closure?

Read more as iNSIGHTS’ writer Dan Marks shares his views on whether we have done enough to support businesses during the ongoing pandemic ...

The COVID-19 pandemic has shed light on a number of injustices in every walk of life. One imbalance that has gained press attention in recent months is the plight of small firms and businesses. The pandemic has most severely affected businesses in service-based sector activities such as hospitality

Did you know that it would take a person on an average UK income over 33,000 years to become a billionaire? Or that American billionaires have gotten $565 billion richer during the pandemic - a time when job security is at its weakest? Or even that Amazon paid ÂŁ6.3 million in corporate taxes in the UK, despite its revenue amounting to over ÂŁ13 billion?

Read more as PPE’s Shravan Gopal shares his thoughts on billionaires - and whether they are morally justified ...

People often underestimate how much a billion is. Just to put it into context, one billion seconds is 32 years : it’s a huge number. For a person on the average UK income, it’d take them over 33,000 years to be a billionaire. But even more amazingly, during a pandemic where millions of people ha...

PPE’s Alyssa Gibbons claims that restorative justice “pose[s] an opportunity for reconciliation and understanding; qualities that are scarce in today’s world”. However, would you be willing to engage in such a modern form of settlement, especially in the digital age?

Read more below to learn about its relevance in the era of social media ...

In our volatile and tumultuous social media-scape, outrage and frustration are seemingly becoming more common as we descend deeper and deeper into a post-truth rabbit-hole. Outcries over so-called “cancel culture” - who knew holding people to account for their views was so divisive - and the gen...

“Fines are typically set as a fixed number for equality, but often at the expense of equity” says Walter Lam, a fellow PPE-ist. He believes that day-fining is the just way to go!

Click below to hear his thoughts ...

What usually comes to your mind when you receive a fine? Dread, regret, or just a shrug? Well, it actually all depends on your income. So this brings upon a fundamental PPE problem: is the law we are abiding to just, and why? Let me take this opportunity to introduce and contend for day-fining below

Is handing out free money a sustainable government policy? Would we still work if we received basic income? Is the supposedly universal concept even relevant in today’s age?

PPE’s Rishab Jain offers us some answers in the society’s first magazine in collaboration with assumptions. Basic income - what will we do about you?

Basic Income is easily one of the most ambitious ideas of this century. The first evidence of this idea can be found in Thomas Moore’s Utopia - written 500 years ago! - but even now, the definition of basic income in itself is disputed. For the purpose of this article, basic income will be defined...

The fight for justice can be economic, political, or moral, but it is often rooted in a sense that existing conditions are unfair, and an overwhelming need to fix them. This year has proved this, as the fight for justice has moved people out into the streets in protest, and has sparked fiery debate....

“Despite its flaws, the Government’s final policy decision to use predicted grades to determine the 2020 A-level results was the correct one, even if the decision was made when cowering from the snarls of the media and opposition parties.”

is not just a hashtag - it's a movement signifying a step closer to the end of systemic racism.

Take a look at these powerful recommendations from Perspectives to help educate yourself and others about the reality of the world around us.

Perspectives stands firmly behind the Black Lives Matter movement and we believe that we can all do more to educate ourselves.

To that end, the editorial team have collated a series of book recommendations that we found helpful in answering many relevant questions, from Frantz Fanon's powerful analysis of the psychological effects of colonialism to Afua Hirsch's exploration of what it means to be British today.

Many of these books can be found in the Warwick University online library for free, so please do check these out.
