The vehicle display at the Guildhall Courtyard at Fleet Vision International— THE SHOW on April 11 promises to be spectacular. The City of London will display the country's longest-operating fully electric RCV, built by Electra Commercial Vehicles Ltd. The fleet of five was supplied on contract hire by NRG Riverside. This 19-tonne Gen1 platform is built on a DE e-compact chassis and has a Dennis Eagle Ltd body. NRG Riverside supplied the vehicle in 2020 on a five-year contract. It is a fantastic engineering feat demonstrating that electric refuse vehicles are a reality and essential in helping clean up the air we breathe, as this truck has shown.
Dennis Eagle and Westminster City Council will bring the latest eCollect, which WCC and Veolia UK power with their own energy-from-waste facility next to the Landman Way Depot. This 27-tonne fully electric RCV is part of a fleet of 45 trucks that help clean up Westminster's air.
At the same time, Hillend Engineering will have its 12-tonne MICRO XHD on show, and Sales and After Sales Director Paul Brown and his team will be on hand to demonstrate this versatile vehicle's capabilities. Paul says: 'The MICRO XHD is a high-quality, specialist food waste vehicle offering a payload of over five tonnes and a compaction system that minimises the load, allowing it to stay out collecting for longer, and with a sealed single-piece body, it means no leaks – guaranteed.'
Munihire, courtesy of Ogden Safety Systems, will bring the Bucher Municipal Maxpowa V120T sweeper. 'This beast,' as Andy Harling, Regional Sales Manager South East for Bucher Municipal, calls it, comes with a 12m3 hopper and 26 tonnes GVW and is ready for the toughest street cleaning jobs. 'This truck-mounted sweeper has been designed to excel in heavy-duty applications such as highways and specialist applications. These vehicles are currently working on airport runways as far away as the Falkland Islands,' commented Andy.
Attendees will also see EURO MUNICIPA's latest MACPAC Refuse Body 110 in the Courtyard, which was built to meet the demands and regulations of the food waste industry.
The MACPAC REFUSE BODIES LTD 110 has been built on a 16-tonne DAF Trucks UK LF230 chassis, an ideal chassis for this type of application. The fully sealed MACPAC body affords an impressive payload of up to 8.5 tonnes. The bin lift has a SWL of 500kg and has also been fitted with the Vehicle Weighing Solutions Ltd Enviroweigh bin weighing system. This system allows customers to monitor and accurately report the collected waste and weight data.
Tevva Hydrogen Electric Trucks is bringing its latest 5.5-tonne Box Body fully electric truck, and CMS SupaTrak is showing off its Innovation Wagon with the OWL Connected truck solution.
FVI—THE SHOW is still waiting for confirmation of one more show-stopper vehicle, so watch this space.
