Man in Bosnia Kills Ex-wife Live on Instagram, then Kills 2 More People Before Taking His Own Life
A man in Bosnia killed his ex-wife live on Instagram, then killed two more people before taking his own life on Friday, August 11, 2023. According to police and media reports, the man was identified as Nermin Sulejmanovic, a 35-year-old fitness coach from Gradacac, a small town in northeastern Bosnia. He had a history of drug smuggling and assaulting a police officer.
The horrific incident began when Sulejmanovic posted a video on Instagram, telling his viewers that they would see a murder live. He then shot his ex-wife in the forehead with a pistol, while a child's cry was heard in the background. He then fled the scene and went on a shooting spree, killing a man and his son, and wounding three other people, including a policeman. He also livestreamed two more videos on Instagram, claiming to have shot at least two other people while on the run. The police launched a major chase for Sulejmanovic, who eventually took his own life after being located by the authorities. He shot himself in the head before he could be apprehended. The police also said that they would question and possibly prosecute the people who wrote supportive messages while clicking on Sulejmanovic's Instagram posts.
The motive for the killings is still unclear, but some media reports suggested that Sulejmanovic was angry and jealous over his ex-wife's new relationship. He had also posted some messages on social media expressing his frustration and resentment towards women and society. The attack has sparked outrage and condemnation from the public and the officials in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Prime Minister of the Bosnian Federation, Nermin Niksic, said that he had no words to describe what happened in Gradacac and that no one could bring back the lives of the victims. The Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Selmo Cikotic, said that the attack was an act of extreme violence and hatred that should be condemned by everyone. He also called for stricter gun control laws and better mental health care services to prevent such incidents in the future.
