With some changed words by me.

The higher you build your barrier
The taller WE become
The farther you take OUR rights away
The faster WE will run
You can deny US
You can decide to turn your face away
No matter 'cause there's
Something inside so strong
I know that WE can make it
Though you're doing US wrong so wrong
You thought that OUR pride was gone, oh no
There's something inside so strong
The more you refuse to hear OUR voice
The louder WE will sing
You hide behind Walls of Jericho
Your lies will come tumbling
Deny OUR place and time
You squander wealth that's OURS
OUR light will shine
So brightly it will blind you
Because there's
Something inside so strong
I know that WE can make it.
Though you're doing US wrong so wrong
You thought that OUR pride was gone, oh no
There's something inside so strong
Brothers and sisters
When they insist we’re just not good enough
Well WE know better
Just look 'em in the eye and say
We’re gonna do it anyway.

Just another of my meltdowns.

I’m sorry if there are people I offend but this has to be said…

While I do like some members of the ‘Royal Family’ As individuals I am NOT in favour of this Coronation for many reasons of which I will explain but a few.

The first thing I’m against is the cost of such an occasion which will run to more than £150M of Tax Payers money, the Royal’s are absolutely loaded yet still the British people are paying for something that many disagree with.

The second reason is about us Scottish folks who have had land and Castles etc swiped from under our feet, now, I get that this is not the fault of the current Royal’s, that said, they lavish in the luxury of that which rightfully belonged to us before the then King was blindsided and lied into believing that the ‘Act of Union’ was for a United Kingdom.

We have never been a ‘United Kingdom’ In the sense of the word nor will we ever be, the Scottish people have a God given right to have back their own nation and Independence.

The Scot’s are also sick to the back teeth of English companies buying up Scottish Car Parks and charging us to park on them, what is that all about and more to the point why the hell is this allowed to happen?

It’s like we are being penalised in every corner, look back to the so called ‘Poll Tax’ Who were the Guinea Pigs? Our Taxes are higher than that of the rest of the U.K (Someone who earns £50,000 will pay £1,550 more than the rest of the U.K

I get that it’s swings and roundabouts, I also get that it’s Scottish Parliament set the Tax Payable on certain types of income, but is that because most of it goes to the U.K Government and perhaps they have no choice? Enlighten me!

I don’t pretend to know all the ins and outs of the atrocious Politics that we have to suffer today or that of the past, but what I do know is or certainly feel that we would be a better Scotland without the U.K Government and without the Monarchy.

According to research Holyrood have a powerful Scottish Parliament (To be debated) Who control more than £27 Billion of public spending. During 2021-22 Tax Revenue generated in Scotland was around £73 Billion including North Sea Oil revenue. During that same period Scotland benefited from about £97 Billion in public spending a difference of £23 Billion.

Thanks to Bexit (NOT) We have missed out on around £150 Million Investment in Scotland alone, another reason we should be an Independent nation. However, we need a non-corrupt Government to lead Scotland. We would also be under no obligation to pay a share of the U.K debt.

We must bring our own industry back to Scotland, we are also the largest producer of Oil and the second largest producer of Gas, so why are we paying through the roof for it?

Statistics show that Scotlands production of Oil and Gas including adjacent waters is estimated to have been 77.2 million tonnes which is an increase of 0.4% compared to 2018 and accounted for 82% of total U.K. production.

We wouldn’t be richer for Independence however, England would be significantly poorer and that’s why they will not allow us to go it alone.

As far as a lot of Scots or rather the U.K as a whole are concerned we do not need a Monarchy sure folks are saying the Coronation is good for tourism, but who exactly is benefiting from this tourism because it sure as hell isn’t benefiting families in poverty, nor is it benefiting homelessness or this current crisis we find ourselves in.

There are people who are paying energy bills that are more than their rents and or mortgages, leaving very little to nothing for other utility bills or even food.

Some folks can’t get to work due to the cost of fuel for their cars and it doesn’t help with the rail strikes and buses now taken routes away that were once the only way some folks could get to work.

Every sector has had to raise prices due to the current crisis which has led many to go bust and still wages don’t go up and if they do it’s a meaningless 1% at best, so now some have resorted to having a second job leaving no family time with their children and now affecting their health and mental well-being.

When will it STOP!

😡

Some interesting reading…

During 1968, the total number of deaths registered in Scotland was 63,311: male deaths numbered 32,146, and 31,165 were female. The ‘Annual Report of the Registrar General for Scotland’ records that the cause of deaths varied from illness to accidental death and old age. It also reports that 17 deaths that year were attributed to a ‘cataclysm’ which occurred during severe storms in the new year, although the total was later confirmed to be 21.

On the night of Sunday 14 January and morning of Monday 15 January 1968 hurricane force winds hit the city of Glasgow before travelling across central Scotland. The impact of the gale was felt particularly across the Central Lowlands, but southern Scotland from Tiree to the Firth of Tay and Kintyre to Edinburgh was also affected. Winds as strong as 130 mph were recorded by the Meteorological Office.

The damage was catastrophic. No-one had been warned about the impending storm and the emergency services were unprepared. Originating in the Bahamas, the storm was expected to push past the west coast of Scotland making little contact with the mainland. When it met another weather front, however, it changed direction and headed up the River Clyde. In addition to claiming the lives of 21 people, more than 100 were injured. Around 250,000 homes were damaged across Scotland, resulting in almost 2,000 people becoming temporarily homeless.

The storm, named Hurricane Low Q, arrived during the night, when most people were at home in bed, blowing in house and shop windows, tearing roofs off buildings and trees from the ground. Cars were crushed by falling masonry and chimney stacks fell straight through tenements. It remains one of the greatest natural disasters in Scotland.

In flats in Dumbarton Road, Glasgow, Annie Best and her 4 year old daughter Angela, who had travelled from England to attend Annie’s mother’s funeral, were sleeping when the storm hit. Next door slept Janet Gowran and her 10 year old daughter Nancy. All four died when a chimney stack fell through the roof. It took rescuers 12 hours to find their bodies in the basement of the tenement.

Falling chimney stacks resulted in other deaths that evening, including one man who was killed in bed when a chimney fell through his roof in Willowpark Street, Glasgow, and another in Wellfield Street. A 5 year old girl was killed and her sister was seriously injured when a chimney head crashed through a roof in Port Street, Glasgow. Four month old Isobel Hunter miraculously survived, however, when a chimney fell through the roof of her home in Dumbarton. It hit her pram which fell through the floor. Firemen, police and neighbours dug for an hour through rubble to find her smiling up at them.

In a tragic turn of events, Hugh Timmoney, aged 24, died when a tree was blown into his car as he drove his wife Evelyn to hospital to give birth to his son Andrew. Another man, who had taken his wife to the maternity hospital before the storm hit, returned home to find his flat had collapsed.

Newspapers also reported on the desperate conditions at sea for ships. In the North Sea 19 men in the rig ‘Sea Quest’ were tossed around by 25 feet waves and two newly built vessels, one a 15,000 ton refrigerated ship, broke away from their moorings. Joseph Ayre, the ship’s cook, Ewen Morrison a deckhand, and Matthew Hanton, a boiler-man, all drowned when the Clyde Port Authority dredger ‘Cessnock’ capsized and sank 300 yards off Princess Pier, Greenock.

Lee Meow Kua was a Malaysian physiotherapist living in Glasgow. She died at the Western Infirmary on the morning of 15 January from crush injuries she sustained in the storm.

In Edinburgh, William Anderson, a printer’s packer, and his wife Elsie died in their home at 7 Northcote Street, Edinburgh, when masonry fell through their bedroom. In the following months, the ‘Glasgow Herald’ reported that fourteen families who had lived in the four-storey tenement with the Anderson family were too afraid to return to the building because of its unsafe condition after the storm.

Other areas outside Glasgow and Edinburgh were also affected by the hurricane. In Fife, which suffered damage to 4,500 local authority properties and 2,000 private homes, the Reverend Alexander Cameron and his wife were seriously injured when a chimney head crashed through the roof of their house. In Dundee Mr and Mrs Alexander Clark woke when their living room ceiling fell in after two chimney heads crashed through their house.

Ex-Prime Minister Edward Heath commented on the tragedy saying ‘it is hard to visualise what happens when three tonnes of solid masonry falls through a roof, it goes through the roof, the next floor and the next, creating a bomb crater in the basement, leaving only death behind it.’

The Queen sent a message to the Secretary of State for Scotland sending ‘our deepest sympathy to those who have been bereaved, and to those who have suffered in the devastation.’

Those left alive and uninjured faced the task of rebuilding their homes. The storms highlighted the poor conditions of many properties across Scotland, particularly in Glasgow, where 52 buildings had collapsed in the hurricane and almost 29,000 roofs were damaged. Many thousands of properties were considered to be unfit for habitation or became irreversibly sub-standard in their condition. For over a year after the storm, a lack of workmen available to mend the damaged properties left families to live with tarpaulins over the holes in their roofs. The total cost of damage to property across Scotland was £30 million.

FOR AS LONG AS ONE HUNDRED OF US REMAIN ALIVE ...

On this day in 1320 The declaration of Arbroath Scotland’s most important document was signed

As long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours, that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself".

These are the best known words in the Declaration of Arbroath, foremost among Scotland's state papers and the most famous historical record held by National Records of Scotland. The Declaration is a letter written in 1320 by the barons and whole community of the kingdom of Scotland to the pope, asking him to recognise Scotland's independence and acknowledge Robert the Bruce as the country's lawful king , the Declaration was written in Latin and was sealed by eight earls and about forty barons.

The Declaration was written during the long war of independence with England which started with Edward I's attempt to conquer Scotland in 1296. When the deaths of Alexander III and his granddaughter Margaret, Maid of Norway, left Scotland without a monarch, Edward used the invitation to help choose a successor as an excuse to revive English claims of overlordship. When the Scots resisted, he invaded.

Edward refused to allow William Wallace's victory at Stirling Bridge in 1297 to derail his campaign. In 1306 Robert the Bruce seized the throne and began a long struggle to secure his position against internal and external threat. His success at Bannockburn in 1314, when he defeated an English army under Edward II, was a major achievement, but the English still did not recognise Scotland's independence or Bruce's position as king.

On the European front, by 1320 Scottish relations with the papacy were in crisis after the Scots defied papal efforts to establish a truce with England. When the pope excommunicated Robert I and three of his barons, the Scots sent the Declaration of Arbroath as part of a diplomatic counter-offensive. The pope wrote to Edward II urging him to make peace, but it was not until 1328 that Scotland's independence was acknowledged.

The Declaration was probably drawn up by Bernard, Abbot of Arbroath. It was authenticated by seals, as documents at that time were not signed. Only 19 seals now remain of what might have been 50 originally, and many are in poor condition.

it’s thought the declaration in part gave influence to the United states of America’s Declaration of independence

In 2016 the Declaration of Arbroath was placed on the UK Memory of the World Register, part of UNESCO's Memory of the World Programme.

I cannot get my head round how/why in this day and age that evictions still go on. This family were illegally and forcibly removed from their home. Their children all under the age of 10 having to witness this is appalling. What kind of world are we living in? The landlord of the said property should be jailed. I get that this family like many others are more than likely behind in payments, the Government in most cases are responsible for the poverty we now face, it’s time they came down hard on such behaviour. Absolutely heartbreaking.💔😢

Video footage has emerged of a couple, with six young children, being evicted from their rented house in Bundoran by a group of men, under cover of night. The illegal eviction has been highlighted by
