Message from Graeme: Saturday Night In is taking a break until mid-September. I’ll review the situation then. Thank you to everyone who has listened so far for your support. I’m sorry for the pause and lack of information, but I’ve been unwell for the last couple of weeks and I don’t feel I have the energy, let alone the right mindset to do any more shows at the moment.

I love doing Saturday Night In and it’s restored my confidence for getting behind the mic. Everything you hear, from tracks to what I talk about and quiz details, is all carefully considered each week, which even fortnightly, takes a lot of effort (and spare time).

Unfortunately, attempts to promote the podcast in the local papers have failed and it is generating close to zero listener or social media interaction. The limitations of the website software (having to choose the cheapest option I could get) even make it impossible to establish what is genuine traffic and how much of it equates to actual ‘listens’. The lack of interaction plus lack of data makes it incredibly difficult to work out who, if anyone, is out there, barring a couple of friends who actually message to say they’ve listened.

I never expected soaraway figures, but I did hope there might have been a little evidence of more life out there. I have no budget to promote or grow, it was simply done for the love of it and if I do carry on, I need to be convinced I can justify the cost of licensing or that it’s viable enough to persuade a sponsor to cover that.

Hopefully, that gives you an insight into my reasoning.

From Graeme: As you’ll probably have gathered, the dance floor is closed this weekend, I’m afraid. The last show (a fortnight ago) was a bit of a struggle due to what turned out a few days later to be a chest infection, which required some strong medication. I’m back up and running - just - but there wasn’t time to put a programme together for this weekend. As neither social media nor the shows themselves have generated any interaction, an attempt to garner publicity for Saturday Night In has fallen flat on its backside and the non-appearance of this week’s show has slipped by without comment, I’m not sure where we go from here.

Delighted to say the Saturday Night In website is now live. When the podcasts are up and running we will continue to link to the latest shows, but the website is where you’ll find them all. At the moment you can have listen to a promo on the home page.

Graeme used some basic computer software to put together a music programme to keep in touch with family and friends and sent links to them. It worked and also proved to Graeme that although he didn't miss doing early newsreading shifts, he still missed the fun of presenting a rather less serious typ...

PS - for those who were wondering about the maths and how I’ve clocked-up 30 years and am still in my 40s..I did my first live radio at the age of 16! I won’t pretend it was great, but hopefully I can do something worth listening to aged 46!🤣
