Came across this pic from 9 years ago design wise it was a really productive setup even though it wasn't an all in the box affair . My studio now has a better capability but do miss this one's simplicity.

2020 indeed a tough year for all of us but I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has supported me personally and their continuing support for my page this year. There are certain items that can improve your workflow , With limited desk top space a track ball mouse is ideal. An early Christmas present from my most dearest totally fits in with my studio's design and ergonomics and best of all cable free..

Sometimes good fortune falls upon you, I've just been given two of these servers which I'm planning to incorporate into my personal studio. Might seem like overkill to most as 99% of people run their studios from one PC and maybe a couple of external drives.

I've designed my studio to be used as a composition facility so the aim is to host all of my instrument sample libraries and stream from them. Another plus will be the ability to back everything up to the server . I can now finally download the rest of Kontakt ultimate (Which I've already paid for lol but didn't have space for) and have bags of storage and processing to have everything available at once. The perfect home studio is in sight :)

This is a picture of my writing room, just letting my music biz buddies know that I designed and built all the studio furniture pieces and acoustic panels you can see in the pic . Will be launching the full range in February 2021. Please watch this space much more to come :)

Hardware synth freaks will probably have the same problem I had as in finding space for all their keyboards. I went the synth rack route and it just took up too much room and compromised the acoustics of the room.

I realised I needed to re-design it to get the best of both worlds. What I ended up with was a storage system that allowed me to have easy access to all of my boards but also preserve the acoustic characteristics of the room. Having my keyboards on desk top stands and slider saved a huge amount of space. Sure I like more space but I think I've nailed it as best I can :) .

Now that TC have added to their range of mini controllers been working on the expanded version of this desk top stand. Looking to have them ready for January 2021 :) So task this week is to build the templates so I can build more than one at a time. Will be initially available in grey or white..

Those who know me personally will know I'm a hardware synth freak lol so I needed a submixer for all my synth outputs . Acquired this Behringer MX8000a for the paltry sum of £60 squids. It did need some TLC the k***s and faders were a bit grubby to say the least. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to customise it with some replacement parts faders and k***s from Amazon & Ebay for very little. Really pleased with how It has come up looking almost brand new. P.S. yes it works perfectly :)

Major progress with my workshop :) where I needed to build a precision saw station essential for making repeatable cuts for my furniture designs . Believe it or not many of the materials I've used I obtained for free :). Facebook market place is full of items people just want rid of and prepared to give away. Having a saw table has been invaluable in re-cycling and re- purposing wood/fibre board products. Really happy with how it's shaping up :) .

Given the embarrassment of the last post 😂 I was obliged to show what progress had been made with the Minerva home studio designs workshop. The strategy was essentially to start in one corner and work my way round. Hell of a lot still to do but happy with it so far :)

This weeks project!! DAY 1 (Yeah I know what you're thinking and I totally agree!!) this is what happens when you have a 2 year break from tidying up and throwing stuff out 😂. Anyway, believe it or not this is my workshop where I design and make my studio furniture creations. It needs to be a safe and ordered environment so got to be done...

Before and after... Really pleased with how this project worked out the Mrs needed a new workspace for her job and she also doubles up as a video editor so the brief was clear. She now has a space that she can comfortably do both :)

Prototype No1 finished at last!! :) for the TC Icon controller range.This version was a test bed for some construction ideas version 2 will be a little different but really pleased with how this has turned out should be ready to start shipping these in a month or so :).

Next project!! How many of you you have a room that looks like the first pic? 😂 as you can see made a start with it. Well with the Covid pandemic it means that the wife has to work from home now and needs an office space. This project will be about creating a dual purpose space the primary function as an office and secondary as a vocal room hopefully in weeks time the transformation will be complete.

I've been asked by a number of people about my desk rack pods , usually if you buy a desk with rack pods on them they sit directly on the desk so if you have other equipment on them you'll often lose the use of the first 2U rack spaces from the bottom. So the solution for me was to fit legs to the rack pod and in this case I added some castors . They were particularly useful when wanting to get behind the rack for power and audio cables and adjusting the monitor controls. In addition to that being on castors it made positioning the monitors easier Doing this positioned the rack equipment at a usable height un-obscured by the controllers on the desk top. hope this is useful to some of you :)

I know many of you have seen this pic of my writing room aka Minerva productions Studio B. It came out so well that it made me realise everything I needed to change for my main room so I embarked on giving it a re-think inspired by what I'd achieved with Studio B. Some major, major health obstacles were put in my way Physically and psychologically it was a battle to say the least. Today I achieved the milestone of completing Studio A. It's not every day you can say "Its now perfect" well at least for me ..

Its now everything I wanted to be and aesthetically ergonomically and functionally my dream studio if you will. I can do everything I need to here (Except for live drums ) Got to take this opportunity to thank my wife who has supported and encouraged me to keep going especially during chemo where the side effects meant most of the time I didn't have the energy to do anything. I'm finally ready to get back to what I love doing most which is to make music...

My Maschine Studio got a makeover today with a "Storm trooper style" vinyl wrap bringing it in line with the overall studio design. The other advantage is that it helps to keep the scratches off the super shiny surfaces. Style Flip do the business again :)

Feeling a bit better this week so got these wooden end cheeks done for my System 8 . Went for a slimline cut as I thought it suited it better really pleased with the end result :)

Been working on my main studio room and just installed 2D QRD diffusers on the back wall. Can hear the difference already :) Has the effect of making my studio monitors sound a bit more focused now the reflections have been broken up a bit.

Recently found a company Heinakroon who specialise in creating alternative overlays and skins for Bheringer synth products. Really impressed with their range.
