Barnsley Advertiser Our aim is to support the local community and local businesses. We will offer competitive advertisin

I was fortunate enough to work for the Barnsley Chronicle for over 30 years and worked with some fantastic people. Newspapers have developed over that time and we have seen the difference a good local paper can make in the community. We believe newspapers still have a big part to play in the Borough but advertising must be affordable for the local businesses. It should also be a good source of loc

al information, helping to keep the community together. We will be working hard to make this a success and when local people see product and community spirit we are aiming to achieve, will be happy to be part of it.

We’ve gone blue!
You will notice that as of tomorrow’s edition our logo will be blue. We have been kindly asked by another publication in Barnsley to make people aware that we are an independent, locally- owned company, in no way associated with any other publication. They questioned the colour of our masthead, and were worried that it may cause confusion to the public. We are more than happy to do this and have therefore chosen the colour blue. Thank you for your continued support. 💙

In next Friday's issue...
PETROLHEAD: "We decided to build and race a dragster- 160mph and 1 foot off the ground wasn't part of the plan!"
It got me thinking about my cars over the years. The first car I bought at 18 was a 1982 Honda Prelude, I loved the car- question is: does it now look like a classic? Later, I purchased a Renault 5GT turbo, looking back at the 5GT I'm not sure what I was thinking, but in its day it looked fantastic.
Comment below, PM or email us your pictures of your 'classic' cars and we'll include them in our feature, let us know the good/bad times you had with these. [email protected]

Barnsley Hospice

Barnsley Hospice

‼️We have received several messages of concern from residents in the Staincross and Mapplewell areas to say that someone is knocking on doors asking for money for our charity.

This method of fundraising has never been endorsed by the Hospice for general fundraising, however our Lottery canvassers do 'door knock' but would never ask for cash without you having already signed up first.

Please do not give cash to anyone on your door step unless this has been pre arranged with a lottery representatives.

If anyone has any further concerns please contact the fundraising department on Tel: 01226 244244 or email: [email protected]‼️

Thank you so much for your support 🧡
