Christmas fairground ride "failed and crashed" in Birmingham, several injured | I Am Birmingham
A festive fairground ride has crashed in #Birmingham city centre, injuring several people (12.12.2024).
At least one person was taken to hospital eleven assessed by medics on the scene after the ride "failed and crashed", according to the West Midlands Fire Service.
Officers and paramedics attended the scene at Centenary Square, Birmingham, at 7.30pm on Thursday after the ride dropped to ground level “whilst in operation”, according to the fire service. The 'Star Flyer' ride appears to be the attraction which malfunctioned and collapsed.
The #Christmas Fair has been cordoned off by West Midlands Police with officers on site, and all fairground rides are currently inoperative.

#Birmingham residents fundraise for emergency Gaza water appeal | I Am Birmingham
Residents in #Birmingham Moseley have come together to raise funds to provide emergency clean water for displaced war victims in #Gaza, #Palestine.
The fundraisers are working with popular local business Cafephilia Moseley and West Midlands Palestine Solidarity Campaign (WMPSC) to generate thousands of pounds which is being used to supply several tankers of clean water to refugees in Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis in the coming months.
