Had the worse migraine for 3 days now and although easing up a little it’s still there 😔

Spent 2 days in bed and could happily stay there!
I’ve Got a busy weekend though starting tonight with the kids football ⚽️

Not every day has to be amazing, life is hard, s**t comes unexpected & believe it or not very few people are genuinely rooting for you 💯

But that don’t matter, the same as everything else in this life once you STEP UP with that survival mentality & stop living in a “I’m not good enough” mindset then you IMMEDIATELY become the strongest version of yourself 👊🏻

Day 523 - It’s not where your story started that matters but where you take yourself! 👊🏻

In the photo is Me lifting the BBC Make A Difference Award 2021 in the same year as receiving the Preston City Mayors Award & The High Sheriff of Lancashire Award 🫶🏻

This is not something I ever possible in my life especially the years spent in institutions, prisons & hospitals 😔

My life began to an alcoholic mother who’s still lost, my father overdosed from drugs & never spent a day in my life.
I failed at every opportunity and hurt the people I surrounded myself with because after all since the day I was born I’d only ever seen people hurting the people they say they love.

It took me 25 years to realise how much I’d messed up my life, in that time I’d had 2 children and sent them on the cycle of trauma by allowing the cycle to continue.
Spent over 10 years locked up.
Lived my life homeless, hopeless & helpless 😔

I share my story in the hope to inspire just 1 person that the journey they walk doesn’t need to be their path for life -

Day 520 - Winnie said to Kirsty whilst on the way to meet me before… “Mum do remember when Dad used to leave us stood about waiting ages for him to turn up and meet us”

That hit me hard 😔

Accountability is everything and that guilt/shame is just a part of the growth 💯

We hurt the people we love, we disrespected those who respected us most & we can’t just hide away from that 🙏🏻

Ill always be greatful that I have a beautiful wife who kept a million secrets in order to ensure they didn’t know any better but I’ll always remember how close they come to not having a father ❤️

although seeking perfection maybe a good way to motivate yourself,

I also think seeking perfection is the perfect way to destroy yourself,
It robs us of our joy we can experience while creating.

You’re here to be you, not what someone else wants or says you should be.

Only you know who you are deep in your soul, it’s your path of life to walk, to learn, to evolve everyday to be a better version of yesterday’s you, one day at a time.

The pursuit of happiness doesn’t mean everything is perfect,
it means looking beyond the imperfections and embracing it all,
true happiness starts with yourself not jobs, money or relationships, happiness starts with you.

Its not about getting what you want all the time, it’s about loving what you have and being truly grateful for it.

Look for a sense of inner peace and contentment, so we must in turn develop selflessness, love and compassion,
We must also eliminate anger, selfishness and greed.

Life’s a journey stay on your path and learn to laugh without cause, enjoy the present without anxious dependence upon the future

My name is Chris and I am 515 days sober today 🫶🏻 My mother sadly is still a lost addict & my father dead from overdose 😔

I share my story in the hope to be a voice for those who are lost while raising awareness in the hope to break the stigma - Once an addict always an addict 👊🏻

I’ve been homeless, hopeless & helpless before I was even a teenager.
I’ve spent years in hospitals, institutions & prisons.

I’ve won awards from the BBC, Mayor & High sheriff of Lancashire.
I’ve raised over £20,000 for local people in my community from sponsored events.
I work as independent lived experience mentor advising local support services & I help my council deliver a trauma informed approach to roughsleepers and addicts ❤️

BUT that doesn’t define me forever - We Do Recover 🫶🏻

If you get anything from following my journey I hope that it’s….. The belief in yourself to be anything you want to be or that you are capable of doing anything you set your mind to 👊🏻

Rest In Peace - We are living in a mental health pandemic !!
Christian Raeburn, 36, who lived in Lancashire, was admitted into Pendleview Mental Health Unit after being detained under the Mental Health Act on Monday, December 25.

At some point during the day a fire began in his room, and on Boxing Day Mr Raeburn died due to injuries sustained in the blaze.

Both the fire service and police were called to the incident, reported as arson, and Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust said an investigation is underway into the incident.
