When it comes to The NETwork I have not got a flipping clue what I'm doing.

Let's be absolutely honest here I can't see that anybody else is doing it in the way that I'm doing it. I can't see that anyone is approaching accessibility and inclusivity in the way that I am. And that's not to say that I'm the Big I Am it's just to say that I don't have any reference points.

So having to be ok with making mistakes, as somebody who is a card carrying perfectionist, hurts me to my core but I'm going to keep taking the steps and I'm going to keep launching the events and I'm going to keep moving and shouting because if I can do it so can you.

You absolutely can make your business more welcoming to people who's lived experiences like yours. You absolutely can do your best to make your events as accessible inclusive and welcoming as possible for people who don't have the same shared lived experience as you.

Most of this comes down to basic fu***ng customer service like it ain't that hard not to be an ar****le.

It's not that hard to make people feel like they matter, like their money is worthy too, thatthey are worthy of being seen.

Because that's what we want is to be seen, elevated and appreciated just like the rest of you.

So I guess I'll keep moving.
I'll keep making the mistakes and kicking myself along the way.
And as we move we'll get better, and better, and better.
And we'll be the benchmark!

DEI is not dead! But they are trying to kill it. the narative around whats happening in the US seems to be either that it won't affect us or that we need to follow in their footsteps. Iistened to Stephen Bartletts emergency debate today and there aas so much i hated about it but the most disappointing was to hear business leaders agree that DEI is damaging.

Like to who..?

Because from what I see ya'll still look like you're winning. In the meantime the world suddenly feels more dangerous for me and mine. All the more reason for safe spaces eh?

I keep talking to you about how networking will help you to find your people. I met the wonderful Nicky Fellows when i was a leader for Inspire and Connect. I would love to tell you she is mine but my sister may throw a bombastic side eye my way. Anyway...

Nicky is an award newborn and family photographer, and she is pretty famous around our ends. So when she offered to do headshots for all attendees of NETwork Launch Party, I did my lil b***y shimmy.

She does some amazing brand shoots (she really needs to shout louder about those) and her photos are just divine. Skills aside, Nicky's passion and commitment to support small local business is second to none. I'm so so sooooo honoured to have her with us next week!

This is going to be such a lovely evening and I am really looking forward to giving you a taste of what The NETwork Events will be like from here on in.

This will never not be exciting for me 🤣🤣🤣
Today I've had the goody bags and new banner delivered, and it's suddenly hit that this is going to be a thing. And of all the products, services' freebies etc that I've put out this is the one that fills me with the most joy. This is the one where I have no doubt that I'm on the right track. When I decided to have a launch party for The NETwork, our guest host was one of the first people I told. She is one of my biggest cheerleaders and believe it or not we haven't even known each other for a year yet. I will tell you a little about our story in a sec but first...

With over 30 years of experience in business growth, Andrea Rainsford has a remarkable story of resilience and reinvention. I had some really exceptional messaging planned for over the next week or so' but having had no Wi-Fi for the best part of two weeks (it only got repaired yesterday, hopefully for good) I'm now behind on my own work by two weeks. But I'm not bitter the universe obviously had better plans.

So with that being said, it's now curry o'clock at Casa Martin. The presents are wrapped the kids, have buggered off upstairs, so Merry Christmas from my house to yours.

What's the point of networking.
I actually used to think this especially at the start of my entrpreneurial career. The spaces I was going into were clinical, very clicky, very old boys club, just horendous! And in all honesty I just stopped going. And business just felt lonely. I had folk I knew and some friends but none I'd met in person.

At the end of last year I decided I needed to get out more and in a year of networking and leading a local group (huuuuge shout out to inspire and connect ) I now have friends who are my nearest and dearests. My ride or dies. My cheerleaders. And I am that for them. My whole network has metamorphosised into a group of loveliness. Even found myself a bestie and shes pretty bloody fly.

Have I made more money from networking? Yes, I mean you'd kinda hope so cus nobody pursues entrepreneurship for the s**ts n gigs. But my biggest gain has been my network. A bloody huge group of people who I actually quite like, who I want to win. People who I will give to so they can climb with me too. That's always been the point for me. And is the exact reason the NETwork exists!

Nearly 20yrs ago someone recommended a book to me. You'll love it she said. I was sceptical as the Wizard of Oz is not one of my faves. But from the first chapter I was hooked.

Then the lobster got me tickets to the west end show and I feel in love all over again (and several more times after that)

This universe has been my favourite random for decades so this movie had to live up to my hype.

It was everything I hoped it would be and more.
Arianna was outstanding.

I have no words for Cynthia's performance other than that was pure unadulterated black girl magic.

I actually sobbed. 😭😭😭😭

"Son by the end end of next year this is where we'll be..."

"Of course you will Mommy!"

The level of faith and doubtlessness these kids have in me always blows me away.

Today I did something amazing. Today I actually saw my vision, the one I've been working towards this whole four years slowly come into fruition, and I shared that with my kids today. Both of them looked at me and said "obviously"

But for me it hasn't always been obvious . I haven't always been able to see my own power, to see the impact that I have other people when I'm in the room. To get things moving when I say move. How I actually run towards my goals instead of hiding away from them.

And sometimes, sometimes I sit and chastise myself for not being where I'd expected to be without actually having looked back and seeing how far I have come.

But my two ( ) always remind me of just how far I've come and just how much work I have done to break through some really strong generational curses.

If my network is my net worth then my ultimate ride or die have me Rich AF, and that for me is priceless.

I never talk about money which considering I've got debt advice in my dna is weird. But I've just filed my tax return and had to have a word with myself. The numbers were sooooo good. In fact I've doubled my turnover, but I'm still in poor kid mode.

It's this mode that has me avoiding the numbers, thinking I need to live month to month instead of planning ahead. If I'd taken the time to look this year would've felt far less stressful.

But we're moving into stratospheric expansion next year so structure, strategy and planning are a must. The "I" quickly became a "We" this year. The one woman band became a team of badassery. The CEO pants are firmly on.

I've handed the numbers to Lee he'll make me look every month so we can plan and track operation world domination.

Go team! We did it🥰

Networking isn't actually my main business. Im actually a brand and web designer and confidence coach by trade. But I started up my own networking group because I was struggling to find spaces where myself and other people from marginalised communities actually felt at ease and were able to have the same opportunities to succeed and grow their businesses. I've been very fortunate to be in spaces with some pretty influential people across the globe and I'm known for what I do. But I'm getting more known for the networking and it's really important that we understand that networking is a really important part of growing your busines. My business grew faster than I started getting myself out there and putting myself in thosr spaces actually felt quite scary for me. That's why I've created the network so I don't want it to feel scary for you want you to feel welcome you to come in and feel like you've had a big hug.
