Hi flower friends 👋🏻

We’ve been a little bit late giving our latest podcast episode a shout out thanks to Nicole’s unfortunate bout of pneumonia - she’s on the mend but it’s meant we’ve been a little behind on telling you to go listen to our lovely chat with the fabulous Polly Nicholson

Polly chats to us about her love of tulips, especially the more unusual historic ones and of course we have a good moan about the slugs that seem to have blighted us all this year. We also chat about Polly’s amazing new book, The Tulip Garden: Growing and Collecting Species, Rare and Annual Varieties, which is not only stunning but tells you everything you could wish to know about growing tulips. It’s available in all good book stores and Amazon right now. It’s tulip bulb buying season so it’s a great time to have a read of it whilst chilling out in the garden writing your order list! 🌷

This season of the podcast will be coming to an end shortly so we’d love to hear what you’ve loved about it and also if you could leave a review for this episode and the others wherever you listen to your episodes that would be amazing ⭐️

All this talk of sweet peas with this week’s guest Marryn has got us desperate to see and smell these beautiful flowers! Sweet peas are one of the absolute delights of flower season because you so rarely find anything so heavily scented. Unfortunately you’ve missed the boat for seed sowing to get any this year but it’s worth checking if any of your local growers, garden centres or even supermarkets have an seedlings available to purchase. And once you’re hooked, you should definitely go down the seed sowing route which is far more cost effective never mind more fun!! If you’ve got no idea what you’re doing, the Director of Enabling runs her Sweet Pea School later in the year so follow her to find out more.

Don’t forget if you want to hear Marryn’s favourite sweet pea varieties, you can sign up to be a Patreon subscriber. For less than a fancy coffee, you can support us and we pay you back with a super secret side episode for every guest. Thank you to our existing Patreons, this podcast would not exist without you 🩷

If you’ve listened to this week’s episode already, you’ll know what Marryn’s exciting news is - she’s writing a book dedicated to sweet peas! As the queen of sweet peas, we say it’s about damn time she did and we can’t wait to have this on our flowery bookshelves!

It got us thinking though… if you were to write a book; what would it be about? Would it be flowery, or something like Nicole’s plan to write “Memoirs of an Allotmenteer” one day 🤣

Aaaaand just in case you were wondering this is the Granny’s Garden Mix as mentioned in the episode!

We also came up with business titles for Nicole and Sarah, Chief Dahlia Officer and Head of Projects - what would yours be?

What on earth is going on with Nicole and Sarah?!💕

A question many of you might have wondered over the past few months as we took a little break from the show. This week we went naked, sans guest (but wearing clothes, literally speaking) to chat about what’s been going on lately with us both and where our growing spaces are at.

Hopefully this change in pace isn’t too much of a shock - and we’re making a concerted effort to say a big hi and welcome to all new listeners as well as a big thank you to everyone who has followed along for what will be 3 years in October.

As always - please follow or subscribe to the show on your preferred listening platform so you can listen to episodes as soon as they come out. Please also consider supporting us on patreon - it pays for our wonderful editor and is the only reason the show is possible! 💕

This week’s episode with Rachel from was all about growing perennials. One of the reasons Rachel has chosen to dedicate more of her growing space is her desire to work smarter, not harder! A principle we are definitely down for here at LGG.

When we talk about “perennials” it’s all too easy to let your mind drift to the “woody stems” end of the spectrum but they are wide reaching and include beauties like these peonies Rachel grows! Do you grow any peonies in your garden/farm? Tell us what varieties in the comments👇🏼

Perennials and woody stems for your cut flower patches 🌿

This week we are so excited to be joined by Rachel from to learn all about her new book, her passion for perennials and as we always ask our guests: what her advice is for the season to come.

Her book is an incredible resource, so we hope you love this episode!

Side note: are you subscribed to us on your listening platform of choice? If you go to our page on any listening platform, you have the option to follow or subscribe to us. That way - your phone will magically tell you as soon as the latest episode is live! 📷: photo credit
