Do you want to have a record breaking Black Friday for your brand?⁠

– if you do, asking your social media manager to make all the decisions isn't going to work (and it's not their job).⁠

Instead, you need a plan. And realistically, this plan should have been finalised a while ago. BUT, if you are still in the process of working out your Black Friday sales and campaigns then this is how you can do that:⁠

- plan & strategise⁠
- turn this into a creative campaign⁠
- determine your AD strategy⁠

Skipping on any of these steps could stop the flow of strategy to push your audience from finding your campaign or brand in the sale period, or knowing of your brand before but having multiple brands in mind to shop from, to choosing only your brand and making multiple sales during the period.⁠

So don't jut whack 10%, 25%, 50% off and hope for the best – figure out what is actually going to make your audience buy from you in the sales based around what will trigger them to make that sale.⁠

You have 5K, 10K, 20K, 100K+ followers, yet your sales are nowhere near where they should be?! Here's why 👇🏼⁠

Your brand is like a big jigsaw puzzle. It won't be complete if there is a missing piece (and you know how annoying it can be to be missing that tiny last piece). The reason why your content isn't converting is the same. You are missing a piece from your brand, or even pieces.⁠

Truthfully, one post isn't going to be able to say this is your exact issue. And that's why working with an expert who can clearly define your missing piece is key. But here are some of the most common missing pieces:⁠

1. Detachment from your brand to a brand strategy. It might be enticing to only spend a minimal amount on branding when you are starting out as budgets can be tight. But if you don't set up the foundations correctly (aka brand strategy), then the rest won't follow. Without brand strategy in your branding, your audience won't be able to connect your brand with their issue in their brain visually. ⁠

2. You have skipped multiple steps and gone straight to a social media manager. Whether that's branding, strategy or business plans, we see so many brands who expect a social media to be able to just 'include' it within their daily content planning. A social media manager though, is just a social media manager. ⁠

3. There is no sales-psychology. If you aren't figuring out how your audience is going to find your brand, what will engage them to retain them as a brand advocate, and what is going to make them purchase from your brand, then how can you market to them to make sales?⁠

I had a comment on a post the other week about how 'sales-psychology sounds great but I don't like the idea of too many salesy-posts'... my response? ↓⁠

Sales-psychology doesn't mean 'salesy posts'.⁠

In fact, if you think it does, it could be stopping you from fully understanding what it is to be able to implement it successfully and therefore not making any sales within your business.⁠

Sales-psychology will actually look different to every business or account on Instagram, because it's based around the journey your specific customer will take in order to go from finding your brand, engaging with it, and then purchasing from it (and being a repeat purchaser).⁠

For example, we have just taken on a new client, who we are actually going to be avoiding 'salesy' posts on her feed. This is because her sales-psychology shows us that her audience will not gain from being directly sold to, and her sales and clients will come from deep, trust building content.⁠

A mood board merging the (not one, but) two brand & graphic design projects that we are working on this week at Thirty Five –⁠

If you didn't know, we also have branding & template services at Thirty Five, and this week we are working on creating a new brand identity for a social media manager. They are taking their business to the next level, wanting a brand identity that distinguishes them from not just a social media manager, but to agency level. Some recent client feedback for our Social Media Management service 💭⁠

When Katerina from Avelã Creative came to us earlier this year, their main struggles with their Instagram was a lack of engagement, and due to that, a lack of lead generation. With wanting to focus their strategy in order to increase sales of their website templates, we looked at how engaging their audience was going to be a key part of their sales journey due to the competition in their field. ⁠

One of the hardest things you can do (in our opinion) is reviving an account on Instagram that hasn't been shown any love or consistency in a while if your engagement is low. And that's why sometimes outsourcing it to a social media manager can be really beneficial as they will know exactly what needs to be done to revive the engagement and to rebuild a community who are going to want to buy from you.⁠

Swipe to find a brand we had a call with who was making NO sales through their social media and the reason WHY they weren't 👉🏼

Having your social media goals to be 'growing followers' and 'increasing engagement' is not going to lead you to having a successful business or making sales through social media.

Yes, they are important, but they are measurable objectives.

If you are selling a product or service to an audience on social media your goal should be sales. If you are investment in social media whether it be with a manager, agency or your own time, you need to see a ROI. And realistically, that will be revenue to your business.

But you won't be making those sales unless you have sales-psychology in your strategy.

It's not enough to post a reel, hope it goes viral, and make sales. In fact, a viral reel may lead to no says at all without sales-psychology in your strategy.

Why?

Because you need to be showing your audience why they should be investing in your brand. And you need to be analysing their purchasing journey and their trigger points in order to do that.

Your products or services why > your actual product or service.

It might sound harsh, but your audience is most likely not buying your product or service for what it is.

Think of how many candle brands there are, how many wine companies, the amount of brand designers who clients can work with. Whatever industry you are in, there are thousands of options so simply sharing your product isn't going to be enough to make your customer or client pick you.

You have to give them a reason why.

And that why should be YOUR why.

This is why sales-psychology is so important in your social media strategies. When you attract your audience to your brand through your content, you need to focus on the why to stop their scroll and engage with them. Otherwise you could just be another post they come across in their scroll.

This is how brands on the daily, go viral on Reels and Tik Tok–they show their user why their product is going to change their life, benefit them, and why it's better than another option. It hits on the relatability aspect of their issues.

For example–I recently brought a viral mop from Tik Tok shop. I needed a mop that was going to really remove all the dirt and hair from my carpets (boring but that's being an adult). And I was sold through one video showing me how it worked. It sparked my interest, showed me why, and how to buy.

If your post doesn't get thousands of likes, it doesn't mean it's not successful. ⁠

If your reel doesn't go viral, it doesn't mean it was a waste of time. ⁠

If your story doesn't get any website taps, it doesn't mean you won't make no sales ever again.⁠

Success is relative. And we always tell clients that there is so much more to social media and social media management than the vanity metrics that we pin success on so much.⁠

For example, a post letting your customers know you have a sale coming up isn't going to draw engagement to it. Because the likelihood is they are going to engage with that message by clicking through to your website to shop the sale. ⁠

That's why when we create our social media strategies we differentiate between objectives and goals. ⁠

Objectives = the physicalities of what you would like to improve on with your social media accounts. This could be increasing followers or post interactions for example. And these can be measured by KPIs.⁠

Goals (also smart goals) = an overacting long-term goal that you want to achieve for your business through using social media. ⁠

If your business goal is to increase your sales, than that should be in your social media goal. If your business goal is to actually scale back your business to improve your work life balance it could be to see consistency in your social media pages to make your life easier and less sporadic. ⁠

That's why when you work with a social media manager or agency, success shouldn't just be put on 'going viral' or the numbers that can be so enticing. Social media management and strategy creation can also be successful in other areas that might benefit you. ⁠

(Your) brand is the main brand you should be inspired by.⁠

I wish I was not being truthful, but it's a weekly occurrence that I find another account being heavily inspired–if not directly copying– our content. And honestly, it makes me so sad. ⁠

It makes me sad that it goes through someone's mind and they think it's okay to. It makes me sad for the fact they are not prioritising their own brand and someone else's. And it makes me sad they are quite often selling services untruthfully to their audience because of that. ⁠

You should be proud of YOUR brand and not someone else's. ⁠

But, there is often a main reason why this happens and it's because you don't truly know own their brand is or how they should appear online. ⁠

Because once you have clarity in who your brand is, and how it should visually look online to attract your audience that's when you can create content that represents you and only you. ⁠
