Now, I’m not one for jumping on ‘days’ generally speaking, but as a mum of three feisty girls (toddlers to teens – yes, please send help), a daughter, a wife, a sister and a friend, International Women’s Day always resonates - particularly this year.
There’s been some major milestones for the women in my life recently.
My eldest, Lilly, celebrated a stonking promotion. My sister, Rosie, is snapping at my marketing heels and is storming into the digital marketing world, with her degree safely tucked under her belt. The middle Harrison, (also) Rosie is having some very serious career discussions as she picks her GCSE options this week (I feel SO old) and even the littlest, Allegra, is tootling off to Big Girl School in her teeny tiny uniform a couple of days a week without so much as a backwards glance at the gates.
I watch these amazing women and girls, with a super proud lump in my throat ❤️
The theme for is the focus on the need to , and the need to speed up the progress of gender equality. I have worked alongside some amazing colleagues throughout my career – both women and men – and I can only hope that my girls are as lucky as I have been, and the path is always smooth for them too.
It’s my role as a mother, a sister, a friend to give them the skills and confidence they need, but it’s up to all of us to ensure that every woman has the ability to thrive.
Happy International Women’s Day to all you fabulous ladies out there!
