Berlin-based house music label producing vinyl and digital releases. AoW’s music is true to the roots of house music; these are releases for the dancers.

Ascension on Wax is a Berlin-based house music label that collaborates with visual artists and dance music producers for vinyl releases. AoW works with contemporary producers influenced by the jazzy and soulful sound that flourished in the 90s US east coast scene. The foundations of AoW were the Berlin Ascension parties in 2019, organised by two best friends for their friends and extended circle.

The aim was to add to the techno-heavy capital of Germany more of a jazz and soul flavour. The combination of art with dance music releases came about after one of the AoW founders met up with the late Dan Graham in 2021 for lunch. A legendary artist, director of the No-Wave Rock My Religion Film and Essays, and Detroit techno enthusiast, Graham offered to collaborate for the debut release. AoW will continue to work with contemporary visual artists and dance music producers in the future, providing certified limited pressings with beautiful artwork alongside the label's standard DJ releases. The name Ascension is a homage to John Coltrane’s ground-breaking 1966 Free-Jazz Ascension album. It honours jazz’s place in the formation of house music, and the jazzy deep house sound.

We would like to say a big thank you to all the 130 or so dancers who joined us last Saturday evening at our secret location in Berlin. We finished at 8am this time which is a record.

This was such an intimate and amazing energy and we are feeling so grateful. played a super lovely set for us from 11pm-3am and we ended up raising €200 for charity. Those who are part of our private group will be able to vote for which charity we donate it to in the coming week or so from a selection we have made.

Let’s keep the underground house music community alive!

We are excited to announce the release of our Dan Graham Authorised Artwork Limited Edition of Glenn Davis’s Space and Time EP. This was one of the last projects Dan collaborated on, it is the first time his Eleven Sugar Cubes artwork has been printed on a record gatefold format and the first time it has been printed in a mass produced format since its debut in Art in America Magazine in 1970, 54 years ago.

This is a beautiful release we hope Dan would have been proud of and it’s aimed at Art and Music Enthusiasts who want a rare truly special collectors items to add to their collection.

Along with the rich New York City art and music club history with the Mudd Club being at the centre of this scene in the early 1980’s were also a huge inspiration for us to start making these vinyl art editions as part of our label as they have done some truly wonderful art and music limited edition collaborations over the past decade.

Each of the edition of 150 records has been hand numbered on the gatefold and centre vinyl sticker.

Pictures are not technically allowed at M01 club where we had our launch party on Saturday but at 07:30am we did snap a cheeky one once the party came to an end.

We would like to thank all the dancers for their wonderful energy on Saturday and for making the AoW launch such a blast. Most importantly, a big thanks to and who tore up the dance floor with some solid house grooves throughout the night. What a special and memorable evening!!
