I was asked why I enjoyed filming / video production the other day. It really is simple to answer: I love how I can take raw footage, essentially chop it up, manipulate it, and play with it. I love how, in the end, a transformed entity emerges from all of the processes involved, like a butterfly from its chrysalis. And how clients often ask how I did it, from the multiple shots that were captured on the day.

I have always been a creative entity, as it were. For instance, I also compose and perform instrumental synthesizer music, something I have done since my very early teens. I also write fiction, and have several ideas just bursting to flow from imagination, to pen, to paper (or iMac, in my case!).

It's all about the end product in all of the creative aspects of my life: the final edit. The completed song. The final draft of a story. I am my harshest critic. If I am not 100% happy with it, I'll rework it until it's fixed. Best way to be.

I take exactly the same ethos with DoubleYew Productions, my video production business.
