Poetry people, I present the wonderful Oliver J Lomax Esq.





A new, soon to be published poem. Inspired by the beautiful act of solidarity that brought Picasso’s Guernica to Manchester in 1939 to support the Spanish Republican cause. It was displayed in a car showroom on Deansgate, long since demolished (now the site of Harvey Nichols).

A proud and never more relevant piece of Manchester and Salford history, some of the documentation surrounding this event is housed at the wondrous Working Class Movement Library in Salford, head down if you want to find out more. Most proud that this poem is going to be published in the amazing Aftershock Review huge thanks to the fabulous poet and editor Max Wallis.

What an amazing evening myself and had last night at with two amazing poets as part of the Chester literary festival.

Headlining the show was with his amazing show Joy! A beautifully written meandering through what joy means and how we can find it in our chaotic lives. The dialog never stopped weaving tales with poems and having the sold out Garrett Theatre in fits of laughter.

In support was , a friend of the label and personally who headlined our own event in Macclesfield earlier in the year. Ol's poetry is wonderful. Little vignettes of life, and death, told from a perspective of love, compassion and humour. Some of my favourites were in last night's set including "Don't you laugh at my astroturf Diane" and "Tonyblairone".

Poetry is such an important part of our arts and culture.

If you can pop over to both of these amazing poets bio and go buy a book. They are not a lot of money, and would make a huge difference to them

I've never understood racism. It's a learned behaviour, kids aren't racist until they learn to be from some small minded bigot.

Judging anyone as lesser because of the skin tone they have is ridiculous.

I have traveled to and worked on every continent except Antarctica. I have been lucky enough to work with some amazing people, whose company I have loved and finding out about their country and culture has been amazing. All of this has enriched my life, and made me better for it.

The rise of rightbwing jingoistic xenophobic politics in the UK, by the Tories and Farage's poundland Oswald Mosely impressions are stoking a rise in overt racism.

It's all bulls**t. As is judging someone for their gender or orientation.

Britain is made great by our diverse cultures.

We are all citizens of earth. We are all just folk.
