This is my beautiful boy, Loki, who likes to get involved in my magickal workings, lending me his energy and strength only if I need it to complete a spell.

I don't know what I'd do without him, but I'm so grateful that I get to share my life with him.

Earlier this month, I had the honour of attending the Fifth Annual Season of the Witch Virtual Conference hosted by Wise Woman Witchery.

Continuing with my "obsession" with Potions, I decided to do a Witch's Brew herbal blend that can be used in simmer pots or just smelt whenever necessary.

Uranus went retrograde yesterday and I wanted to share how these energies are likely to interact with our lives.

I got curious about what message(s) we might need today and almost as soon as I started shuffling the Magical Nordic Tarot deck, these two cards leapt out together.

The Three of Swords is typically associated with some kind of heartbreak, whether that is a betrayal or a break-up. However, it doesn't specify who has hurt us so it could be a friend, partner, family member, or someone we work with. But this card is merely saying that we need to think about how we've been hurt in the past, and consider whether that is happening again now because something needs to be done about it. The action that needs to be taken is to protect ourselves from further heartache, to use the Three Swords before us and defend our human hearts.

The Three of Pentacles is usually associated with working in collaboration with others, recognising each individual's strengths and using those skills for the good of all. And so that's partly this card's message but because it came with the Three of Swords, this card is saying to recognise the signs that tell you when a situation is not healthy, when it's toxic and when it is harmful to you. By recognising these signs, we can further help to protect our hearts from heartbreak but we cannot be in denial about it. Recognition comes from the heart and our intuition – both will tell us when things are not right but we have to be willing to listen, understand and act on them.

For a (long) while now, I've been curious about Hekate, Her symbols and how I could work with Her so I signed up for a workshop hosted by That Witch Karena at The Witch's Inn back in November 2023.
