A former school dinner lady and charity champion of Largs is calling for a fundraiser for a school minibus after it was revealed that Largs Academy is the only secondary school in North Ayrshire not to have access to this mode of transportation.
Janet Muir, who used to volunteer at the Helter Skelter teenage café, has been calling for funds from the sale of the property to be channelled in the direction of purchasing a school minibus, and has offered to get involved in helping to fundraise.

We Will Remember Them: The 80th anniversary of D-Day has sparked memories in Largs of the day the town unveiled a new information panel in tribute to the Normandy landings. The News was there in June 2019 to cover the special event, alongside WW2 veteran Jack Ransom, local Legion members John Hutchison and Miller Paterson, and North Ayrshire's Provost Ian Clarkson. All have passed away since the 75th anniversary commemoration. The event was also organised by the Largs branch of Royal British Legion Scotland, which has also disbanded, and is now part of the organisation's Saltcoats, Ardrossan and Stevenston branch. A 55-year-old Largs man with mobility issues who lives close to the ferry terminal says the drone of a nearby ferry is driving him up the wall - but reveals his complaints have fallen on deaf ears.
