First official day back to work for 2025! I’m keeping it casual and cosy at home after a busy morning of school drop off and random errands complete.

This year I’m adding some products and services designed to help individuals who want to break into running their own business whether that’s doing what I do or learning how to optimise organic social media use to launch a new business.

SCAM/FRAUD/IMPERSONATION If you get a new friend request from someone you’re already friends with and there’s no profile photo chances are a it’s scammer! The named person won’t know about it and there’s nothing they can do.

Don’t accept, report the profile and delete the request.

Scammers are constantly finding new routes to hack you and this is one of the latest.

They’ll likely use information on your profile against you, to benefit themselves or will trick you in DMs by sending you dodgey links into whatever scheme they’re a part of.

BE SUSPICIOUS. I’ve received loads of these from various friends and we always have a number of mutuals too.

Do:
✅ Enable two-factor authentication
✅ Create complex, unique passwords or passphrases

Don’t:
❌ Click on suspicious links or download files from unknown sources
❌ Share personal or account information on unverified websites

An interesting initial prompt from a predominantly video platform! 🤔
I’ve just set up a new TikTok account for a client and the first thing they’re prompting is to do is upload a PHOTO 📸

Do you share a lot of photo content on TikTok as a part of your strategy?

This could be something to consider as the platform takes a turn in a new direction.

Photo sharing has been an option for a while but this is a real push from the platform towards images!

❌🫣🍝 Yeah, Bolognese AFTER the bath was definitely a prime example of doing things in the wrong order! Why? Well he was clean, now he’s covered in sauce so the effort I put in an hour ago was futile, we need to do it all over again. 😂

This made me think of sequences in other areas, including social media marketing and ads.

So many jump into paying for posts thinking it will solve all of their problems quickly but really social media marketing is a long game, so play it well.

✅ Establish a strong organic presence.
✅ Set up Business Manager, Ads Manager and your Data Sets (Pixel) in Events Manager
✅ Get the Pixel on your website and ensure it’s working, collecting data.
✅ Consider audience building ads that build a warm audience such as
> Engagement for videos views
> Traffic to your website
> Page like or group building ads

Aren’t they worried no one will go to their restaurant or order takeaway from them??!! No, of course they don’t have that mindset at all. They’re reaching more people with their product and brand by being on the supermarket shelves and allowing people to do it themselves.

This post is inspired by a conversation I had this weekend all about helping other people to become social media managers or training people to do their own ads rather than keeping all of the knowledge and info to myself!
