[email protected] As a child I was fascinated by great photography and since I left left school I have been passionate about it.

I left college in 1986 and have been worked as a professional news, editorial, corporate and PR photographer. I am still every bit as passionate about what I do as I was as an eighteen year old. Ninety percent of my income comes from shooting and editing pictures and the rest comes from teaching, writing about and consulting on photography. It's a nice balance and I really like the way that my pro

fessional life works. That doesn't mean that I'm not going to get excited about new opportunities and if you would like to work together on a project, newspaper, magazine, website or something else then I'd love to hear from you.

When this was shot this was my favourite type of catchlight. The shoot through translucent umbrella partnered with an oblong light panel to reflect a bit of light back in. I have changed my mind a hundred times since then. "What is your favourite light modifier?" A question from a photographer who has followed my blogs over the last twenty-plus years got me thinking....

A group of Archbishops and Bishops on a candlelit pilgrimage tour of Canterbury Cathedral. ©Neil Turner for IARCCUM. 26 January 2024 After a week of travelling to Rome and Canterbury with a group of well over fifty Archbishops, Bishops and a Cardinal I thought that I'd share one of my favourite pictures from the job. The summit and pilgrimage was organised by IARCCUM (International Anglican–Roman Catholic Commission for Unity and Mission) where the Bishops in their pairs were commissioned by Pope Francis and Archbishop Justin Welby to work together to forge greater understanding and cooperation between the two churches in their respective diocese....

My Coronation weekend was a bit different. On Saturday I started before 7am photographing The Archbishop of Canterbury at Lambeth Palace relaxing before the big day and then walked from Lambeth to the security zone near the Abbey with him, another Archbishop and no fewer than seven other Bishops before spending the rest of the day photographing the guests with him on his return. On Sunday we were at Canterbury Cathedral for the Coronation Luncheon, two services and a lovely Q&A with Justin Welby and the Dean of Canterbury. Finally on Monday we went to the Catching Lives Open Centre in the centre of Canterbury as part of the national Big Help Out.
