We don't always have positive food and farming news to share.
So it's great to hear Martin Wright, Director of Positive News, highlighting some silver linings from the industry, including thoughts and ideas from our founder Guy, in an article published this week.
“We can feed 10 billion people on this planet using sustainable agricultural practices that sequester carbon and boost biodiversity," he quotes Guy as saying.
"But to do that, we do need to embrace complexity – and get away from this ‘100-acre field with a monocrop’ approach.”
Martin touches on some complex farming methods, including silvopasture - where cattle graze beneath nut trees - which Guy is exploring, and some of the opportunities that technology can offer, like robotic w**d control and remote soil monitoring. He also digs into the rise of conversations around regenerative agriculture and soil health.
It's a refreshing look at some of the innovations that offer some glimmers of light in what's all too often a difficult landscape.
