June was spent working on the Island of Love! 🏝️

I spent 8 weeks editing/digital producing for Series 11 of ! This included 3 weeks of pre-tx work on Press Week and the "Meet the Islanders" videos, followed by 5 weeks creating the "First Look" videos out in Mallorca with the best team. I feel very fortunate to have met so many fantastic and inspiring people.

The team were all so incredibly welcoming and helped make my first series of Love Island an enjoyable and memorable one 🫶

I had a invaluable time collaborating with everyone - ensuring the teasers were aligned with the main show going out later the same day. I also learned the fundamentals of AVID, thanks to the support of the edit assist team.

Well done to the Series 11 team for a fantastic series!

For International Women’s Day at the start of the month,  approached me to direct and edit a series of videos showcasing the female talent at

It was such a pleasure to talk to these women and hear their unique stories and challenges in what’s historically been a male-dominated industry. National Grid is actively focusing on diversifying its employees and wanted a series of videos to showcase what’s possible and inspire the next generation.

So far, the videos have collectively reached 501k views on their YouTube channel alone. You can check the videos out in their YouTube.

Big thanks to the Hurricane team!

New work with for 🌱

I absolutely adored editing this film with the Enviral team, one of three in the Good Green Jobs Series online.

C40 aim to show the world how local climate action creates good, green jobs and positively impacts people and the planet.

Quezon City’s main focus is to convert unused land into green, local urban farms which not only helps cut down on emissions from the typical agricultural emissions but also provides jobs, money and food to communities - which really helped when the city was struggling with food supplies during Covid.

It was an honour to hear Tatay Sablay’s story first hand and hear about how this initiative has transformed his life. I may have got slightly emotional editing it (which I’m sure Dan can attest to!).

Local benefit = Global impact.

Hello everyone!

After an incredible 6-month backpacking journey through Central and South America, I am thrilled to announce my return to freelancing and my eagerness to take on new projects and clients.

During my time away, I had the opportunity to explore new cultures, gain fresh perspectives, and recharge my creative energy. Now, I'm excited to bring that renewed passion and enthusiasm to my work.

If you or someone you know is in need of an Editor or Director, I would love to connect and discuss how we can work together. Whether it's crafting a compelling documentary to engage your audience or creating captivating videos for your socials, I'm here to collaborate and generate solutions tailored to your needs.

Feel free to reach out via LinkedIn message or email at [email protected].

I'm looking forward to reconnecting with all of you and embarking on exciting new projects!

Starting the year off high, filming and directing a film for with .

January has been my busiest month since becoming self-employed. I’ve said yes to a lot more opportunities (due to January’s quiet reputation) and have had the pleasure of collaborating on a range of exciting and diverse projects.

My highlights so far have been working with ITV on some social content, taking studio photos for  and filming/directing for Noisy Little Monkey - a skill I'm looking to develop further this year.

I’ve really pushed myself this year and I look forward to continuing to grow as a freelancer in 2023!

Has anyone else been super busy with work this summer!? I've found it increasingly hard to keep my socials updated, so here's a 'lil' update for you all...

I've been lucky enough to have had a busy few months working with loads of interesting people, both old and new. I'm consciously putting aside more time for self-development which has been hard to get into the habit of as a freelancer, I tend to want to prioritise work which I think is quite natural - Having a couple of mentors has been really useful for keeping me on track and accountable. My meetings have reminded me of the bigger picture and how I want my future to look.

I've been spending July working with ITV on some promotional content for Love Island alongside a few YouTube videos for Netflix and videos for various charities.

I worked in-house at Hurricane on an interesting case study which I really enjoyed - I love the flexibility of working remotely but it was really refreshing to have the option to go into an office and meet other creatives.

Lastly, I've been having a few meetings the past few weeks around working with exciting companies such as Dyson and MakerChange Studio, I've also managed to get some directing opportunities in the pipeline!

It's not easy making the time to learn new skills but it really pays off when people take a chance on you. My dream is to one day be in a position where I have the opportunity to direct and edit, especially documentaries - So I'm focusing any free time on making that a reality.

It's been a whole month since I've gone freelance!

I've adored working on such a variety of interesting projects and meeting some incredible, creative people along the way.

I've been working on a range of Music Videos, worked with big tech companies and my most recent project for MakerChange Studio, all about supporting Economical Feminist Empowerment - So happy to be involved in work that can help make a difference in the world.

Most of the projects I've been working on haven't gone live yet but I can't wait to post about them when they do.

It's been such a great start to freelancing and I'm eager to expand my network and portfolio.

If you'd like to discuss working together, please email me at [email protected]

Creator spotlight: Nomadland | Chloé Zhao ()

Wow, what a film. A film about humanity, connection and reflection. It has to be in my top 3 films released last year. The cinematography, acting, colour grade, the music!? It was the first film I saw in cinemas after lockdown lifted and it made me realise how much of a difference watching films on the big screen makes. So much more immersive .

My biggest takeaway was that it wasn’t rushed which seems like such a novelty now. I loved how long they held on shots, the handheld shots and intimate close ups. It was so difficult choosing stills from this as every scene is beautifully curated.

If you haven’t seen it yet you can find it on Disney +

NEW WORK AND BUSINESS UPDATE: Forage Design - Raw Beauty, know your power

So excited to share this project with you all. It's great getting the chance to work with brands that highlight social issues like Forage Design do. I started Gingernut Video as a way of using my skills for issues I care about - I hope this leads to similar work!

Alongside this, I've had the pleasure of working with CCP (A charity helping homeless people), Pink News (An LGBTQ news outlet), an environmental awareness video and a few more projects that I can't discuss until they've been released.

I'm so happy with how this business venture is turning out so far and want to thank everyone who's been supportive throughout. A big part of why I love freelancing is the community, you meet some amazing people.

I have some more news to share with you soon - Really need to step up my social media game, it's just so hard to find the time!

New work alert!

I had the best time working with director extraordinaire Noomi Spook on a couple of videos for the jewellery brand Forage Design. The client wanted to create a series of videos showcasing their uncut stone jewellery collection, showing that they create products to make their customers feel beautiful and empowered.

I worked on both Margie and Cyndi’s stories which touched on an array of social issues, including mental health, body positivity and anti bullying.

Excited to be doing freelance editing work with - Fantastic learning more about LGBT+ issues on the job.

Their mission is to ‘inform, inspire change and empower people to be themselves’ sits so well with our ethos here. Feminism is only feminism when it’s intersectional.

Looking forward to working together more, the team I’ve worked with so far are lovely!

If you’re also interested in working together on a freelance basis, please get in touch 🙂

We’ve finally released our website! After a lot of hard work and long days, gingernutvideo.co.uk is live! The site was built from scratch using CSS, Java and HTML - For the website design we used Figma.

We’ll still be adding new bits to the site but I wanted to get the core site out first.

In other exciting news I also finished my showreel! It’s something I’ve been putting off for quite a while as I didn’t feel like I had enough variety of work to show but I’m glad I pushed ahead because it’s shown me how far I’ve come in the last 4/5 years. From someone who felt painfully average academically and was always inspired by film, I’m quite proud. Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the moment and want to achieve more, constantly. I’ve realised it’s also good to look back too.

I hope you enjoy watching my showreel and seeing the website so far. I’m waiting on a few more projects I’m working on to wrap up and then I can release them next!

Women in the video industry.

Part of the reason I wanted to create Gingernut Video is because I've first hand experienced the lack of gender diversity in my career so far. It's my aim to use this platform to 1. Raise awareness 2. Speak to people about the topic of overall diversity on set and to 3. Create a space for women wanting to enter the industry - It's an interesting career to navigate and there's lots of unique challenges which I'm planning on talking about more.

I spent a lot of time researching all these statistics, it's actually surprisingly difficult to find up to date information. It was really shocking to see the percentages, I knew it was bad but not this bad. One of the most interesting sites I found showed the breakdown of roles on set and really got me thinking about gender stereotypes. I've added the link in my bio and would recommend having a look a for yourself.

On the last slide I've included some candid ideas about how we can change the lack of diversity in the industry, to end it on a positive note - However I plan to do a lot more research into what different companies are actively doing to help as well.

What are your thoughts on this? It would be great to hear your experiences.

As mentioned before, I'd also like to start doing a few candid interviews so please feel free to message me directly if that's something you'd be interested to get involved with!

Peace ✌️

Hello!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted, so I wanted to update my page with what I’ve been working on recently, as a similar video may be of interest to you, or people you know!

As we know, during these difficult times, schools have had to close abruptly causing a lot of children and parents stress and anxiety.
It’s been especially disjointing for the children in their final years of school, who will be starting secondary school without getting to say a proper goodbye to their friends.
To create a long-lasting memory for everyone, whilst also keepings social distancing rules, I was approached to create an interactive video out of footage that parents and children filmed. The video’s gone down really well and I’ve been asked to create a similar video for another school.

I’ve also been editing videos for a YouTuber to help grow their YouTube channel, and help manage their social media; As well as editing podcast videos and interviews for the production company I work for.

Next on my agenda is helping a friend with the post-production of a video for a non-profit organisation, so keep your eyes peeled for that. Then I'll also be producing and editing a wedding video in October.

I’ll be sharing my services list soon to give more of an idea of what else I can offer.

Feel free to share this status to your friends and family, any support would be so appreciated, as I slowly grow my freelance network ☺️

I've had the pleasure of creating the brand video for the company Dialect.
The brief was extremely flexible which gave me the creative freedom to bring the brand to life, naturally.

Going through archived projects and coming up with a way to weave the footage together, in a contemporary and fun way whilst also reflecting our company's ethos.

I loved working on this, it's not often you get a chance to own the creative, from searching through footage, shooting new stuff, editing, and leading the process from start to finish.

Enjoy, and head over to Dialect's website to check out the new design and layout worked on tirelessly by the great creative team!
