Wow, just wow. The podcast started out as a bit of fun - something to help me through lockdown and give me something to focus on but today I have hit 20,000 downloads and 25 episodes. Did I ever expect this to happen? Not a mission! To every single guest from the 1st feb 2021, I can’t thank you enough for coming on and telling your story. With one more episode to go in season 1, I am looking forward to recharging and planning for season 2. I have a something special going on in the background that I can’t wait to show you all, so keep a wee eye out on the progress via Instagram. Episode 22: On the Podcast we welcome Manchester born, Danielle Smyth. Danni talks about growing up in Manchester and how well she was brought up. Like anyone growing up, she was taught the difference between right & wrong, but she began to prefer taking the wrong option. She talks about turning her back on the people who loved her and this is where the problems began. She fell in love with a man who physically and mentally abused her. Drugs were also a massive part of her story. She transitioned from a gateway drug of Ma*****na to hard drugs, and finally he**in. She talks about going to uni and how becoming a make-up artist was the last thing on her mind. Getting a job in tv is not easy and it takes time and patience. It all paid off when jobs started coming in. As a freelancer, moving from city to city is not easy, especially in London, the city that never sleeps. Was she happy all the time? Episode 20: On the Podcast we welcome Annsborough man, Ruairi Croskery. Ruairi talks about his love of football and playing for Castlewellan from the tender age of 5. He gives an insight into the influence and encouragement of his dad and the impact this had on his future. His career took off and he moved up the ranks at local football clubs. Then, a memorable day arrived and he was invited to his boyhood club. He left home at the tender age of 14 to put on the famous red jersey. Surely that was it? Finbarr takes it back to the beginning - where he was born, growing up and where the love for music came from. Episode 18: On the Podcast we welcome Galway Comedian, Sir Stevo Timothy. As many know, Sir Stevo is a very funny guy but did anyone really know what was going behind closed doors? The struggles he had with anxiety from an early age and the use of Alcohol to help him escape. That lead to self destruction and took him to a dark, dark place. Moving on years later, Sir Stevie has become a massive hit on all social media platforms (and can be seen doing sketches such as Farmer Michael) but he also talks about the trolls he’s had to deal with over the last few years.. Mark talks about playing football at an early age for his local club Longstone and his love for the sport - It was always part of his life coming from a GAA family. Mark talks about the highs and lows both within his local club and at Down. He talks about the sacrifices he has made throughout his career and how he is only human. Episode 16: On the Podcast we welcome Castlewellan fitness coach, Piaras Fitzpatrick. Piaras talks about growing up and spending all his days outside. He surrounded himself in nature from an early age and this came back to him later in life. Piaras talks about the madness of partying and bouncing from job to job - just living for the weekend. He talks about how his life changed for the better and how he has no regrets about the party lifestyle. Were there many changes in his life? Hell yeah. It was a full diet transformation, becoming vegan, training and having a fitness/business mentor. Episode 14: On the Podcast welcome London Life Coach, Nina Aouilk. Nina talks about growing up in England and what it was like to be of Indian descent. Life as a child was not easy for Nina, as she explains in the podcast. She talks about the horrific ordeals she had to deal with simply because she was female. Nina talks also about arranged marriage and the traditional Indian culture. In the podcast Nina also talks about domestic violence and how it brought her to her knees. The highs and lows of a typical addict, trying to find a way in life. A very touching story. Be ready for some laughs but also emotional moments.
