Classic Ralphi Rosario chi-town business from 1992, a wonderful, punchy, piano house record originally released on Chicago label Gosa-Lo and now reissued by Groovin.

Rosario is a part of the Hot Mix Five radio crew which helped to popularise house music in Chicago and beyond in the 1980.

From the asylum recordings label who saw a major boom in 2021 the Second instalment of their unity series compiled by label head Norm Tally with heavy hitters from both Detroit and Chicago with names such as Tyree cooper, Delano smith, Norm Tally, Gari Romalis and more. This collection of Detroit and Chicago heavy hitters shows the life of the underground still echoing through both cities with a personal favourite track Tyree Cooper- Raw Underground

Untethered from a mainstream reading of techno and dripping with personality, a sunny reminder of the genre’s roots, and an assurance from the heart of Detroit that techno is more than pounding kick drums and dystopian FX.

This record takes us back to where we played our first Vinyl set as , opening up on “Let’s give it up”(ft Archpriest Rev. Wanika K. Stephens & De’Sean Jones)

Waajeed is keen to remind us that in the face of state violence and oppression it’s important to celebrate Black leisure and joy, and his music is a reflection of that.

Scan 7- The resistance
The Scan 7 collective is known for its archetypal Detroit sounds and meticulously designed tracks. Always with a nod to Underground Resistance, the group put out its ‘The Resistance’ tune 11 years ago now back in 2013. Here it gets served up once more in its original form alongside some hefty remixes. It’s a sophisticated track with lush strings and spoken word musings over buoyant Motor City house grooves. The Terrence Parker mix is even more house, with loopy bass bringing a soulful touch under the claps. Last of all is the UR Detroit Rusted Metal mix, which is all fizzing synth modulations and dark broken beats.

From Detroit to Glasgow- God Loves Detroit by Terrence Parker
This album is becoming a staple go-to when mixing due to its diverse range sounds of house and deep house.
Tracks like Basement beats and God loves detroit have that raw detroit sound but theres also another aspect of the uplifting house feeling coming through on tracks such as latter rain- a personal favourite.
Terrence Parker is an American house DJ and music producer from Detroit US.
Terrence’s released his first Techno EP in 1988 as part of Separate Minds with Lou Robinson and Marc Kinchen. In 1993, Terrence established his own music label Intangible Soundworks and has performed as a DJ in 53 countries throughout the world. He has released music on his label and others including Quantize, Axis/Purpose Maker, Planet E, Sony, EMI, Defected, Nervous, Kingstreet, and Purple Music. Terrence has chart hits with his songs “Something Here”, “Love’s Got Me High”

2024 is gonna be a big year. Sales increased 11.8 % last year at their fastest rate this decade with 6.1 million units sold. This marks the highest level since 1990.

Purchases of vinyl declined steeply during the 1980s as the CD became the new and preferred physical format and it’s still a long way from hitting the heights seen during its heyday at the end of the ‘70s again.
