SEA LIFE CENTRE - National SEA LIFE Centre Birmingham
We visited Sea Life during February half term. Our toddler loved the penguin zone and ended up laying down on his belly and getting nose to nose with a penguin on the other side of the glass. The penguins seemed as interested in him as he was in them! 🐧

We also loved the underwater tunnel which was much longer than any we have experienced before. Part of the floor of the tunnel is glass giving you a full 360 view of the aquarium around you. Within this tank are sharks and an enormous sea turtle. It was a big wow moment to get so close to such a magnificent animal. 🦈

The MAD Museum

Now this is a museum with a difference - part hands on and part mesmerising just to watch.

In the centre of Stratford Upon Avon, it's a fun trip out and if you can get a dry day, it's great to explore down by the river and take a turn on the big wheel too.

While it's not huge it's absolutely packed with kinetic art in all shapes and sizes. There are around 70 wonderfully imaginative moving sculptures from artists all over the world at The MAD Museum

MAGICAL CHRISTMAS ON A BUDGET

It can be overwelming when you see your friend's social media flooded with all these amazing experiences but do you have to do all this if it's going to leave you struggling? Sometimes it's a case of choosing one big thing that you really want to do or look for alternatives that can be just as magical. I've got a few ideas but would love to know your tips and recommendations too.

Santa's grottos - school fairs & Christmas lights switch on events often have the chance to meet Father Christmas at a fraction of the cost.

Christmas lights - the switch on events are great as they're often packed with free entertainment too. Keep an eye out for houses nearby too that go all out on their decorations.

Creative Christmas - pop on the Christmas tunes at home, make hot chocolate and snuggle up for a movie. Make your own Christmas decorations and fill the house with wonderful smells with your own gingerbread men.

🌼🌸 We had a stunning afternoon adventure at The Real Flower Petal Confetti Company's Flower Field last year

A glorious place. Needs to be seen to be believed!

Located in Pershore, just outside Warwickshire into Worcestershire.

Well sign-posted. Good parking, friendly staff & toilets. Lush to wander around, viewing platform & stunning keepsakes to be captured.

Only open from 30th June to 9th July and then it closes as they will be harvesting these beautiful flowers 🌿🌸🌼

School break up for the summer next month (yes, I know ... where has the year gone!) 6 weeks or if you have a few inset days thrown in too, can be a long time to cover childcare when you're working.

Grandparents can be amazing if they're close enough - pitch it as quality 1-2-1 time 🤣 Play date swaps with friends is another great way to get some free childcare and in return you get a messy house on your turn but keeps the kiddos occupied when they have their friends over.

🌳 Set in utterly stunning grounds, beautiful views all around.

Fantastic family fun ~ where olden style activities totally captivated young & old. To more modern day fun, games & lots of bouncing.

It was like being in a fairground, combined with being immersed in cool science lessons while relaxing in a glorious country estate!
Absolutely adored by young & old - so much team building, problem solving, fun & laughter!

We will absolutely be going back soon, the girls wanted to go around again!

My boys love cars but me ... not so much so I was taken aback by how much I enjoyed it too.

It's a really high quality museum and totally child friendly with lots of hands on exhibits throughout.

Silverstone had originally been an RAF base and there's some great history around the second world war with a link trainer (learn to be a pilot), bomber training and turret training.

A big highlight for my 10 and 12 year old was the racing car simulator (booked as an extra). It goes way beyond any computer game with the chair & steering wheel juddering if they came off the track.

There's a great section where you get to be the engineer and develop your own winning motorcycle all on an interactive screen too.

Of course, there are the amazing glossy racing cars too. Your visit really does take you on a journey through the past, present and future of Silverstone and British motor racing.

What a gorgeous sunny day and Stratford-upon-Avon makes a great fun family day out.

Nice and compact, it's easy to get around on foot with lots of space to explore.

My youngest recently went on a school trip to Silverstone Museum and has been talking about it ever since. So, we're planning a trip for the whole family in the holidays.

Over the holidays the world famous Silverstone Formula 1 Circuit has been recreated by the team at Scalextric for a brand new ‘On Track’ exhibit which enables visitors to pick up a throttle and enjoy epic battles with iconic cars around the two lane Grand Prix circuit.
Can't wait to have a go.
