🌻 Just the other day, a friend of mine asked me to help her pick out the best new iPhone model with the best camera because she's going to be creating a film using her phone. ⁠⁠
⁠⁠
🌻 My initial thought was she's about to create something drastic like 𝟏𝟗𝟏𝟕 which is a film that looks like it was shot in one take. (𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘦) Anyway, my second thought was 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 of all time.⁠⁠

🌻 I then proceeded to read a bunch of articles about Apple for the rest of the afternoon.🤯 How can a brand consistently meet it's customers needs for over a decade? It became clear that Apple is successful because it has a 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞. ⁠⁠

🎯 The same way your business has financial goals and sales goals, your social media presence should be treated the same way. Having a well-aligned social media strategy will help you reach your target audience and keep you motivated.⁠⁠

🎯 Treating social media marketing on an ad-hoc basis will not benefit your business and you run the risk of wasting a lot of valuable time and getting frustrated with it.⁠⁠

🎯 If you already have a '𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧' but it doesn't seem to be working, here are 3 ways you can improve on your plan:⁠⁠

3️⃣ 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 - a recent survey by the Global Web index found that 30% of a business' online time is allocated to social media interactions. If you're not spending 30% of your online time interacting with your audience, you can now be certain some of 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨 and getting ahead.⁠⁠

Recently, I ran a poll on my stories asking you what your 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬 were for 2021 and the majority of you shared that you wanted to 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 through social media.(unsurprisingly)⁠⠀

To do this, you have to improve your social media productivity. I've said it a couple of times but 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 really is one of the main components to having an active presence and attracting 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬.⁠⠀

Here are 3 simple habits you can get 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲 to ensure you are focusing on growing on your social media profiles and essentially your client list.⁠⠀

1️⃣ 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 - spend at least 30 mins each day connecting with your audience and with potential new followers. Your followers are people who are interested in your business and when nurtured correctly, will turn into clients.⁠⠀

2️⃣ 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 - video content is not slowing down in 2021. Creating videos on any of the social media platforms your business is on will ALWAYS have the potential to have a higher reach than an image post. Don't believe me? Measure how many people view your next video and compare that to your last image post.⁠⠀

3️⃣ 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 - review your analytics at the end of every month or weekly if possible. Doing this will give you competitive advantage because you'll have a better understanding of your target market while ‘Bob’ and his business will be assuming what type of content his audience likes.⁠⠀

If you've been viewing value from an inward perspective, and have been creating content that you 'think' is valuable, perhaps it's time to change that to value in the 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬. ⁠⠀

3️⃣ Make positive changes. Shift your objectives from your findings and take actions that will improve the effectiveness of your content. ⁠⠀

🌿 They tweeted something that made them stand out from their competitors and 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞. But here's the thing, don't be fooled to think that this was a huge risk they took. For some businesses, this probably would not have been a successful approach.⁠⠀

🌿 If you look at their twitter account you can see that they speak to their audience regularly in this 𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞. This is a great example of understanding your audience and going with something different.⁠⠀

⁠Are you creating content that is speaking 𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 to your audience or copying what everyone else is doing? ⁠⠀

How do you know if the 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 you're allocating to social media is normal? 🙃⁠⠀

🌿 My own research shows that most small business owners aren't sure if they're spending too much on social media tasks for their business.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
🌿 The truth is you're most likely spending far 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 on it. If you think about all the different tasks you have to do such as creating content, understanding features, hashtag research, etc. doing all those tasks around the clock will 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐨𝐮𝐭 and leave you feeling unhappy with your business.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
🌿 You don't have to be 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐝 at the start of every week running into the same old cycle of last minute tactics or even spending parts of your weekend on it. That isn't a 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬.⁠⠀

🌻 Have you been 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫-𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 your content? Of course thinking things through and having a well thought out social media strategy is crucial to you achieving your goals on social media. However, what's not beneficial is when it holds you back from sharing your content. ⁠⠀

👇 Here are 3 steps to 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 it:⁠⠀

🌻 Put things into a 𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞. You should be focused on producing meaningful content for your target audience. If you're stuck on 'should I post this or not'⁠ chances are you aren't looking at it from a wider lens.⁠⠀
🌻 Set a 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞-𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭 when creating content. If you don't, you're most likely going to end up creating content for a very long time. Try blocking out you calendar once a week for this.⁠⠀
🌻 Stop the 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫! I see and hear it too often, that you're afraid what others might think. If you feel like you trip from this go back to thinking about it from a wider perspective. The fear is causing you to look at it from a short term perspective. ⁠⠀

🙋‍♀️ I certainly do and one of my priorities is to stay organised using tools that help me to get more tasks completed in a day so I don't have to stare at it for too long. Not just for myself but for my clients as well. Have you been looking for the right tools that might help and 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲?⁠

👉 I had a strategy call with one of my clients last week and we laughed because one of the tools she uses I really can't stand, (I won't name it here!) However it works perfectly for her. What works for me may not always work for you but I know how frustrating it is trying to juggle multiple areas of social media without tools that actually help.⁠

👉 One of the most valuable tools I have found for content planning is using 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨. I have multiple boards to create content and I share my board with clients whenever they work with me.I still use Asana for other project management tasks, but lately Trello is a lot better.⁠

Here's what I do when I don't have enough 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭!⁠⠀

🌿 I always advise you to plan content in advance. It saves you a lot of stress and also doesn't compromise the 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 that you are giving to your audience. However, life happens. You didn't get round to planning this week's content because of client work and now you just have to go with the little time you have to create something. ⁠⠀
⁠⠀
🌿 Here's what you can to do to avoid posting just anything for the sake of it. You still 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 to put something valuable and share it with your audience:⁠⠀
⁠⠀
1️⃣ 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭. Review your posts from some weeks ago, or other content you've published like blog posts or articles. In many cases, your content might not have reached a lot of your audience the first time round and now can be a good time to repurpose it.⁠⠀
2️⃣ Always ensure you have an 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 with content topics already outlined as part of your social media strategy. That way a last minute topic will be...well..on topic!⁠⠀
3️⃣ Post on your 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬. Every little helps to keep your audience engaged and still nurturing your leads.⁠⠀
