Law 1: Never outshine the master

Make your masters appear more brilliant than they are and you will attain the heights of power
When it comes to power, outshining the master is perhaps the worst mistake of all.
Never take your position for granted and never let any favors you receive go to your head.

Law 2: Never put too much trust in friends, learn how to use enemies

But hire a former enemy and he will be more loyal than a friend, because he has more to prove. In fact, you have more to fear from friends than from enemies. If you have no enemies, find a way to make them
Since honesty rarely strengthens friendship, you may never know how a friend truly feels. Friends will say that they love your poetry, adore your music, envy your taste in clothes— maybe they mean it, often they do not.

So a Pantene advert pops up on my TV screen. A woman with evident disfigurements across her face appears. She waxes lyrical about how her beautiful hair helps her "bounce back".

So now, because I googled it, have learnt that Katie Piper got an acid attack. My question is, what if it wasn't Katie Piper, would you really care?

We like looking at pretty people, but also pretty people that survive challenges and have a story behind it also sell. It makes these cosmetic and make up companies seem all flowery and emphatic. They're not.

So fair play to you Katie. You WILL be a marketing success because of your STORY and people using it as a talking point about how BRAVE you are.

But life is selfish. They like pretty people to model our goods as it's easy on the eye and we aspire to be like them. The only time someone with disfigurements will be used to advertise a beauty product will be purely for the token vote. Just remember they don't give a f**k.

And why should they? Consumers don't fantasise about burn victims. They fantasise about the ones that didn't get acid thrown in their face. The pretty ones.
