Good morning world.

Here is an interesting position: white to move!

What colour would you rather be and why?

This position has been inspired by Grandmaster Maurice Ashley

His course on Chessable ‘The Secrets of Chess Geometry’ is at a bargain price

Well worth purchasing.

Not bad for a bullet game. 2nd time playing this opening. Very fun!

This is by far my best game to date. Considering this is correspondence, I may have just got lucky as my opponents mood may not have been on point on the day he made the move. Great game against a great player though. Enjoy the brilliancies 👊🏽

My first game in the open section. I lost on time also being dumb enough to notate a rapid game. I faced very strong opponents. Scoring 1 1/2 out of 6. It was extremely challenging. I came back home feeling humbled with more respect for all competitors.

OTB chess is a total different calibre to online chess. I have a lot of potential and I plan to always play in the open sections from now on. The lessons learnt are well worth it for my chess development.

I will be taking a different approach to my training and play. I am feeling grateful.

To all my jits friends. It’s basically like being a blue belt competing in the black belt division 😂 my head was hurting after 6 rounds.

Iv entered my first OTB Chess tournament after a long time off, on the 17th of July in Manchester, where it all began.

My dilemma is - should I enter the ‘open’ section and get some good experience against tough opponents or be a bully in the lower section 😂😂. Note- my Over the Board rating allows me to enter the lower section BUT, that rating was from a good few years ago. I can safely say that my game has improved a lot since my last OTB tournament, and I am keeping up with the experts of the game.

What do you think chess friends?

Bird is the word. 1.f4
My opponent who is a seasonal player and teacher for over 65 years resigned without putting up much of a fight.

Nice rating climb taking me back over 2200.

Chess psychology plays a big part when playing humans. On chess dot com, players rated about 2000 play like bloody 2500 😂😂 with rapid ratings of 1100 🙅🏽‍♂️

Nice double piece sacrifice and an unstoppable mate threat against a 2100 who always beats me.

Won’t be playing blitz for the next couple of months as I start training for Scarborough chess congress on the 29th-31st October.

I have decided to play in the open section. Just dive straight into the deep-end with the experts and masters.

The goal is to improve on decision making. . ;

There are more ways to do things wrong and very few ways to do things right.

Every Wednesday i will be going over chess opening theory and on fridays we can test out what we have learnt.
I shall also be taking recommendations on what openings to study in the weeks to come.

Tomorrow we will be starting with the Kings gambit
1.e4 e5 2.f4 Black has four ways to respond to 2.f4
1)Accept and hold the pawn
2)Accept and return the pawn
3)decline the pawn
4)offer a counter gambit

With the Kings Gambit, you can certainly count on a lively game where both kings often come under fire.

Spassky, Tal, Fischer, Alekhine and many more great players have had truly victories with this opening.

I hope to see you in class. Peace and love
