On todays show I’m talking with a man who’s journey from humble beginnings has taken him to the pinnacle of horse culture. You may know him from the image of him standing on the Long Walk at Windsor castle with Carltonlima Emma paying his respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II

In this hour long interview, Terry Pendry talks about meeting Tommy Capstick and how he bought Carltonlima Emma, about the Queens funeral procession, becoming stud groom at Windsor castle and much, much more.

Recorded over 2 days, including a trip to Windsor Castle which was genuinely one of the best days of my life, I think it is probably one of the best interviews I've done throughout my film and podcast career but I'd be interested to hear what you think!

Welcome back to series 3 of the Fell Pony Podcast!

Over the next 5 weeks we have some amazing stories from people with a wealth of knowledge.

On todays show I have something a little bit different for you, and have put together a show from all the archive interviews I have of my dad Walter who died in 2018 age 93. I had done many interviews with him over the years, mostly about his travels to Appleby Fair with our ponies which he lived for every year, and also from some interviews recorded with children at Settlebck school in 2010

For anyone that never met Walter, he is the man in the podcast logo, from a photo of him on the Limers gate, the old pack horse trail on the tops above Duckworth farm.

Thanks to all my guests for their time and a huge thank you to all my patrons whose donations make this podcast possible.

So without further a do - here's a link to episode 14 of the Fell Pony Podcast

We have a very special edition of the Fell Pony Podcast with Wilderness Guide and adventurer Eliza Brown who back in May completed the Cape Wrath Trail, over 300Km through the Highlands to the most North Westerly point of Scotland with our very own Hades Hill Pansy.

"Walk On", a film following their adventure is being screened as part off the Kendal Mountain Festival next week so we thought we should release this episode in advance of series 3 which will be coming out in the New Year. Enjoy!

There’s a new Team in town.

It’s 12 years since I set myself the goal of getting a team of Fell ponies together, and after years of frustration it really all came together in the last 2 years with much help, encouragement and the loan of carriages to get here. Huge thanks to Libby Robinson for the loan of carriages and lessons in driving Coachman style, Sam Savage for the Team carriage, Paul Metcalfe for getting us safely on the road and Flo for believing in the dream. This is like the formula 1 of driving competition horses. First time out was steady away but such a buzz! You can really feel the horse power. Watch this space.

In todays show, Tom talks with Christine and Alison about the history of Lownthwaite, forecasting the weather by ponies movements, Clydesdale v Shire horses, Pit ponies, Gallowas and Jaggers, the cycle of the seasons, and asks “Why do we do it?”
