Whoever would have thought?!

I went to a music event a week ago, met some new friends and ended up taking on Waggy this delightful dog that was abandoned.

We've been together for a few days and he's definitely a keeper.

My life has been turned upside down - or some might say it's now the right way up, by Waggy's arrival.

Remain flexible and open minded, and you never know what wonderful surprises could be in store for you.

Why we should cuddle more with animals

Studies have shown that cuddling with humans releases oxytocin, which makes us feel happy and loved.

The same happens when we cuddle animals. Even just being around them makes us feel calmer and more relaxed. Especially in people with mental disorders like depression or anxiety or other disabilities, the company of animals can have extraordinary healing powers.

Usually, the benefits are greater with bigger mammals such as cats, dogs, horses, camels, etc.

Lanzarote itself doesn’t have many mammals. But we do have several horse and camel ranches, dog shelters, and lots of goats. 🐫

And of course, we have a very diverse sea life here. Not sure if they’re happy to be cuddled, though.
