You should always keep on top of your batteries health.
Here are 3 simple checks that take no skill or mechanical knowledge but could identify a faulty battery before it becomes a problem.

1. Look at the leads that run to and from your battery for any damage.
2. Look for any signs of leaking battery acid, if acid has been leaking from the battery it will appear as the bad image below.
3. Look at the health indicator on top of your battery. Most batteries have these now and will show green for good and red for bad.
